If you don't know why - do a bit of Googling about mining companies/people he's associated with and what's happened...it will be well worth your while ;)
They're also not really anywhere near Shanta - they haven't even started building their mine yet and their mining licence is under application not granted.

cornishpixie - isn't the answer nearer "sort of". I think I've heard various answers on this - but seem to remember the gist of it being your stock couldn't be loaned out if you paid for it to be certificated (or segregated in some way - there was a term for this but I can't remember what it was).
I don't believe the "sell order at X price" is relevant though from what I remember.

I think this would actually be pretty cheap for a takeover bid of a company with Boohoo's numbers and give Amazon a big jumpstart into fashion where they're not great.

jcb208 - If I'd just held all my positions I bought in the depths of the pandemic I'd be sitting on gains of over a hundred grand easily. Like a twerp I took profit far too early on most things (or sold out after thinking I'd got it wrong and wasn't going to rise - I wasn't wrong...just took the market longer to cotton on :p).

The share price doesn't make a company go under. It's craziness like this that drives the share price. You're a shorter's dream.

Sounds like the best idea would be to not repeat your mistake, selling when things are low, rather than buying....

If you want a morbid but positive (for the world not everyone) thing. If this new form of COVID (omicron) spreads wildly, but is slightly less deadly, it will undoubtedly lead to more deaths in countries where the vaccination rate is lower BUT and it's a big BUT....if it means even more people around the world have now caught covid (on top of those already vaccinated) then it will significantly increase the level of immunity in the global population. Simply because so many people have already caught it.
I do think we're toward the end of the tunnel. With more and more people getting vaccinated or sadly (for those not offered a vaccine it / or too stupid to take it) who've got some immunity via infection. Meaning the virus might continue to spread but it'll be harder for it and result in fewer and fewer hospitalisations in the end.

I'd have given my young daughter the vaccine in a heartbeat. Although I would have preferred it if she'd had the option before she got covid. The virus is so prevalent that you're hugely likely to be exposed to it. I'd prefer any relative of mine to have a bit of protection before they got exposed.
It's really bl**dy simple in my book, you're better off with the body trained to fight off the virus before you get exposed, whatever your age, and chances are you will be exposed as it's so prevalent.

Maxage - you don't consider overblown media ESG scare stories, logistics concerns (even though it applies to loads of other businesses), and heavy shorting exploiting this, as news? :p
These are all material things that feed into a share price (unfortunately - or fortunately as it allows purchases at these prices - depending on your point of view).
Lockdowns, no lockdowns, these are all a distraction. Online fashion, along with online everything, has been growing. So it's not going to matter whether we lockdown or not. The business has been doing very nicely pandemic or no pandemic.
