I think we all know we've been impeded by the lack of gas sales that could yield $3m/month, that would be transformational and would also enable gas reserves to be booked. The accession to the EU Energy Community means this will eventually happen but is a process. The good news is that on Thursday a 33 page document was uploaded to the MoE website and it details athe setting up of commission which is tasked to open up the utilities (electricity, gas, water) markets to ensure they're competitive and without monopoly. 2. The purpose of the law is to:
A) on the basis of the development of competition and regulating the existing non-competitive market
Provide mechanisms for water supply, electricity and water supply in Georgia
Natural gas markets and tariff systems and water supply.
B)and create all categories of customers for stable electricity supply, natural gas
Legal basis for supplying and supply of drinking water;
C) Promote local and foreign investments to attract electricity
Rehabilitation and development of gas and water supply sectors;
D) Promote hydropower, other renewable, alternative and natural gas
Advantages of local resources.
3. The task of the law is:
A) to impose on the energy sector of the Ministry of Energy of Georgia,
Electricity and Natural Gas, Key to State Policy
Developing directions, ensuring their implementation, and regulatory framework
Create and receive;
B) Determine the production, transmission, dispatch, distribution, import of electricity
And export, natural gas supply, import, export, transportation and distribution,
As well as the basic principles of regulating the customer's activities and relationships are publicity
And on the basis of equality and for this purpose the energy sector regulator
Legal basis for the establishment of an independent system;
C) promote electricity generation, transmission, dispatch, distribution, import,
Export and consumption, natural gas supply, import, export, transportation,
Increase efficiency of distribution and consumption;
D) ensure the development of Georgia's electricity and natural gas
Markets;
E) provide electricity and natural gas markets and tariffs
Establish systems and set up a legal basis for tariff regulation
Which will protect customers from monopolistic tariffs and at the same time will help
Long-term financial sustainability and development of energy sector;
F) to impose the Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission
And on the basis of equality and for this purpose the energy sector regulator
