Unilever/Cadbury jointly buying Kraft would give Unilever world dominence in spreads/condiments and No.2 in coffee. Cadbury would be No.1 in confectionary and No.1 in biscuits.

An aquisition of Cadbury by Kraft would give Kraft huge leverage with UK and Indian retailers/supermarketst to attack Unilevers dominance in spreads. The aquisition by Unilever of Krafts coffee business would make Unilever world No.1 in tea and No.2 in coffee. If Kraft buy Cadbury they will be knocking on Unilevers door next.

Unilever cant stand by and allow Kraft to create a stong position in the UK and Indian markets where it is weak. Markets where Unilever are historically stong. It would be disastous for Unilever. I propose Unilever and Cadbury should make a joint offer for Kraft. Unlever taking Krafts spreads/cheese/condiments and coffee businesses and Cadbury the Suchard and snacks businesses.

Cadbury and Unilever should launch counter takeover for Kraft. Cadbury would pick up the Suchard and biscuits businesses and Unilever the Spreads and Coffee businesses.
