I'm not an immunologist but, as I understand it, not all antibody tests test for the same thing (e.g. the Mologic/Vistect IgG/IgM/IgA test will be looking for something different to the UK-RTC AbC19 test), as there are a variety of things that indicate the presence of antibodies.

I think this piece from the government is trying to explain that a specific test will be used to ascertain whether the vaccine has worked... one that's targeted to the vaccine. Now, who is it that has developed a test that is targeted to the vaccine that it likely to be the most widely used in the UK (and elsewhere)?

No it wasn't. This is a publication of a modification to a contract awarded on 6 October 2020 and the modification is to extend the procurement of antigen tests until 31 December 2020.

The guidelines (which aren't guidelines but standards imposed by regulations) haven't been relaxed. They're just been made more available so that those supplying can ensure the standards are being met.

You're wrong.

The MHRA is the competent authority in the UK and can give EUA to vaccines under the provisions of the Human Medicines Regulations 2012 (it's the provisions of Regulation 174 in case you're interested) - as they did with the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine last week.

Contrary to what the government claimed they weren't enabled to do that because of Brexit, because it is a provision that has existed in European regulations (and thus available to all EU member states) for the last decade. As the MHRA pointed out when asked by journalists about the claims being made by ministers...

Not really - it's just the algorithm. Trades are reported as simply as trades. Sites such as these use an algorithm to roughly sort them into 'buys' and 'sells' depending on whether the price of the trade was above or below an average price.

But nobody other than the actual parties to the trade will know for sure whether the trade was a buy or a sale.

ODX doesn't sell the UK-RTC AbC19 test. Sales are handled, on behalf of the consortium, by CIGA - ODX is purely manufacturing capacity.

And sales to third parties of the UK-RTC AbC19 test is subject to the agreement of DHSC/HM Government. They will not give that consent until they are satisfied they have sufficient stockpiles to services immediate demand and that sufficient production capacity is in place to service future demand.

Vaccination is going to take a long time to achieve. Which means that Covi testing will be with us for a long time yet - if not permanently (a good thing for Paraytec) - and there will always be a need for masks.
