"Boris Johnson’s government has been accused of “wasting” billions on unusable personal protective equipment (PPE) and buying kit at inflated prices, after a report revealed the huge scale of losses.
The department of health’s annual accounts report revealed that £8.7bn spent on PPE last year had been written off – admitting to a “significant loss of value to the taxpayer”.

Once the sociopath in Number 10 is booted out, the next PM will need to pick up the pieces of his disastrous decisions around Covid. This will include addressing the significant issues around access to reliable testing.
Morning Benny!

RMS shareholders shafted themselves...
"These masks are expected to hit the market in the UK within the next two weeks!!!"
The masks are already on sale in the UK...
...and the sales to date are fairly dismal, to say the least.
"When was he/she last on here. Definitely was all over this board most of 2020...?"
Still here (although I can't claim to have been "all over the board most of 2020" when compared to the TWat and his crew)...
Unlike some of the usual suspects, I have a life - and I'm very busy with a new research project as well as work, plus I'm busy sorting out several trips later in the year.
“ and he WAS in cabinet (I think). ”
He wasn’t.
What has the OP said? I can't see what it is or who said it as they're filtered.
Campbell's views and opinions need to be treated with some care. He often extrapolates from statistics with little supporting evidence. It's worth remembering he is neither a virologist or an epidemiologist (or even a statistician)(, so he is commenting outside his area of expertise.
So *******s then…
"Covid test firm urges end to tests for travellers
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-60063606"
Of course, it's not really a Covid test firm - it's a facilities firm that provides Covid tests. It wants to get rid of restrictions as they are impacting the bulk of its business, which is not testing related.
The UK is going to become (even further) a national pariah... we are already being talked about internationally as a plague island and we can expect to see further restrictions placed on travellers from the UK that will not apply to people from other countries as a result.
“ Did the Innova test go through the same procedure ?‘
No.
But it's only another PCR test (from a Spanish company)...
The total incompetence of the UKHSA and MHRA is the key issue here.
"However when you compare it to just this single tender awarded to Innova Medical, for 713,500,000 tests
https://bidstats.uk/tenders/2022/W03/767033760"
You're conflating the tender for 713.5m tests with the contract awarded to Innova, which was for only a portion of those 713.5m tests.
You may wish to make sure you get your facts right before sending here, there and everywhere...
Far more than that were purchased. The 713.5m tests you refer to is just one of the framework/DPS tenders awarded in September 2021 - it doesn't include all the tests purchased from March 2020 - September 2021.
The overwhelming majority of the tests purchased were from two companies, one of which was Innoova.
You know what they say about a fool and his money...
"A CTDA one would be even better"
Some of us are keeping the pressure on...

“ Even the Government are saying they want to get back to normal within weeks / months as we live with covid.”
The Government are lying f***wits, trying to shore up a corrupt PM
No rational, intelligent, informed adult thinks the pandemic is anywhere near over.
Sorry - but you clearly don’t have a clue…
The MDR apply to all medical devices. (the UK regs are basically the EU regs).
The CTDA are in addition to the MDR, apply only to Covid testing devices and apply only in the UK.
