The latest Investing Matters Podcast with Jean Roche, Co-Manager of Schroder UK Mid Cap Investment Trust has just been released. Listen here.
There might be a ray of light in the Money section of yesterday's Sunday Times. Here's a section of it: “If you do not live for at least seven years, some or all of the gift may become chargeable and will be cumulated with your estate. However, you and your husband each have an IHT nil rate tax-free band of £325,000, plus an additional residence nil rate band of up to £175,000 if your home is inherited by children or grandchildren on your death. As these allowances are transferable between you, and if you have not made any other lifetime gifts, this should mean a total allowance of £1 million so that no inheritance tax will be payable on the gift to your daughters, even if you do not survive seven years.”
it's certainly strange. With a headline of Treading the TYK2 trail I'd expect there to be a focus on TYK2 in the text. Instead it lists the few sentences in the Edison report that are likely to scare investors whereas the actual report is overwhelmingly positive. I don't know whether it's my browser but the link to see the full report doesn't work. If this is the case with everybody I'd regard this 'RNS' with deep suspicion
I'm with Bobble on this. Most sites welcome new investors because, as he says, good things tend to happen when new people come on board. We can all see a user's history so it surely makes sense to treat new investors as just that. Weren't we all new to SAR at some point?
I was a bit too quick on the keyboard there. Should have checked it out first. Nothing to do with Sareum - apart from the scientists are obviously interesting in transferring successful treatments for other illnesses like rheumatoid arthritis to Covid
Believe me I have no wish to be an apologist for the mms but I think the idea is that it gives them the chance to manage the market if they are able to hold back information. In the case of yesterday I think they artificially lowered the share price to induce people to sell so that they could balance the early (hidden) big buys.
I believe they're allowed to delay publishing trades that are significantly higher than the norm. Also, the higher they are - the longer the delay that is permitted. Of course you can argue over what is significantly higher than the norm.

I wasn’t allowed to say anything until today, but it's now okay for me to share that I have volunteered for the Covid-19 vaccine trials that Imperial College are running in partnership with Oxford University. It's important that we all do our part to beat this virus. The vaccine is the one that has been developed in Russia. I received my first dose this morning 06:20 am, and I wanted to let you all know that it’s completely safe, with ?o side effects whatsoeve?, and that I feelsh?? ? ???? ???? ??????? ????? ? ? ????, ??? ???? ????? ???. ??????? ???? ????? ?????
I just had a look online and found this:
"Incidentally, this is more common than you might think. As of 12 November, Scopus reports 20,881 items with notional publication year of 2017, or about 1% of the items recorded so far in 2016". (Scopus is the largest abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature)
