. China will not sell any more coal to Bangla as they haven't paid their bill for the last 9 months.

. Now Bangla have both their new plants at Rampal and Payra sitting idle as they have no fuel.

. If Barak is falls out of service, this could open the door, and give Hasina a face saving oportunity to uturn, and finally go ahead and op phulbari.

There are three units at Barak, that should produce a total of 525 mw.

..unit 2 has been out of action since 2019.

..unit 1 has deteriated, and only produces half the power it did when new.
.
. And now unit 3 has shut down for "technical reasons".

. So the whole plant is aging and now only producing about 15% of its planned capacity.

. Is the whole plant heading towards the scrap heap??.

. I ask this, because, as I have said before, I think that Barak was stopping Phulbari from being developed....... (they would not op at phulbari and risk making their own plant at Barak obsolete).

. If the plant has run its lifespan, will that open the door for phulbari??

Everything I read seems to be against OP mining at Phulbari, or at least anti coal----and where it is pro coal, it's not about Bangladesh's coal, but imported coal from all around the world.

Will this open up the way for Bangladesh to import cheap Russian oil and coal.

So the project gets finished by 2025 (paying in Yuan instead of Dollars), and that will add another 2500 mwatt of generating capacity to the Bangla grid.

... They already have about 27,000 mwatts of capacity but demand is only about 13..14000 mwatts..

. That is leaving about 13 000 MW sitting idle, but still attracting capacity charges.

. I don't know the terms for this new Nuclear pp,. But at this time, its another 2500 mwatts of un needed power, unless they mothball some of the existing plants,... The same as they will have to do after the Indian Godda plant comes on full stream.

. Their whole energy policy looks a total mess.

Bangla, I have to agree with everything you have said... Except it is now 2023...and the world has changed.

. Coal is on its last gasp as a fuel, with countries together to halt its expansion, and to start rolling back its use.

. Now where does that leave GCM in Bangla.

. Twice the amount of needed power plants, means that our proposed 6000 mg plants are not needed.

. The plants that have been built to run on coal, now get all they need from imports, and can survive without Phulbari.

. A massive mistake of getting power via India Godda plant, is another unneeded supply of power, that again means Phulbari is not needed.

. Everything is geared to imported fuel, and the contracts have been signed.

. The only home grown power plant/mine, at Barak, will have all the coal it needs if they go ahead and open another underground mine at Dighap.

. So again, no need for Phulbari.

. I think we have totally missed the boat, and our coal deposit will remain as a rice paddy forever.

Quite right Alaric, it really doesn't matter at this stage, whether Notore have missed a few payments (so have Nnpc and Sahara)

. Then, before you know it, our pipe will be complete and operational, and oil will flow directly from our fields to our fso.
