Hi DA SUT - Why now. - They could have waited until the prelims. It wouldn't have made any difference that I can see. - so, why now. - They stopped reporting shipments but released a snippet of info re a high |Nov. output. - They just subtly slipped it in. - Why did they do that? - Was it perhaps to keep the natives quiet? - You might be right they may be feeling pressure, I mean if under their steering the company has shed £1/2 billion in market-cap I think their might be some pressure. - So, there's a lot of questions that can be prefixed with why. - There is another big why question that has concerned me for some time. - Why are they getting rid of their profits almost as soon as they've earned them in dividends. - That smacks to me of a company with no vision and little ambition. - Hell, they could invest the money into UK Gov. bonds which will pay interest, all be it a small one, and retain those assets on the books in a different form, ready for use as and when. - But no, we're not a bank, get rid of it!

Yes indeed , key questions, the answers to which will be contained in the Feb. release with the likelihood that we'll get a good hiding when they are. POG might have a mitigating effect. -It's difficult to know and therefore sustain a position with such an untruthful BOD. - It's odd don't you think that Q1 will be half-way through before we know next years forecast. - I get the distinct feeling that we are caught-up in a playing for time game. - Q1/Q2 will tell a story.

I believe that serious investors will want to invest in a 540/560 thousand ounce prospect. - Bearing in mind that the 'Darling' of the FTSE 100 in the sector (Randgold) is emigrating. This should bring Centamin into much sharper focus. - IMO

Hi Razor - Projecting Q4 production as a guide for next year and if my calcs are correct, It wouldn't surprise me to see a positive reaction. - We'll see.

Using the 'up to 2% shortfall' in the statement, if I'm understanding correctly, means full-year output of 470,400 ounces. - So, based upon Q4 being sustainable, bearing in mind we were told that we were through the worst, next years forecast should come in between 540,000- 560,000, - It'll be interesting to see whether there's deceit in their statements, as has been the pattern this year, or some semblance of truth. - My caution and lack of trust has not diminished.

Well, I said there was no time left to issue a further down-grade in production and therefore was mildly optimistic that we would achieve the previously revised forecast. - How wrong can you be!

Hi Prof - Although mildly optimistic at this stage, my optimism is tempered somewhat by a lack of trust based upon the shenanigans of the board this year. - Q4 will tell us a lot but Q1/Q2 next year will tell us a helluva lot more. - It's crunch-time for me this next year and after all the years I've been invested here, I have a feeling that I might be saying cheerio.- That's not to say I'm kicking my gold-investments into touch but rather that they will probably be riding a different horse.

How on earth have they been able to achieve this 180 degree turnaround? - A timely reminder that they can do what they want. - I'm thinking about all the stops that must have been harvested during this process. They will amount to tens if not hundreds of millions of dollars. - Every one a winner except the poor sods that are on the end of the wash -n-rinse. - When the law stands aside, this is what you get. - The US stock market has become the equivalent of the 'Wild west', there is no law and it's what will ultimately destroy them unless someone or something comes along and puts a stop to it. - What are the chances of that?

I see that gold trading is carrying on apace today. - Asia is closed and I thought our trading desks were closed til Thursday.

What worried me about the silence was that it might be a forewarning of more bad news. - However, there's been no further production downgrades and Q4 is just about completed, so there's no time left now to issue any more warnings. In addition, we had a timely post from Siko reassuring us that through information gleaned from friends working at the mine, that everything was back on track. This was a comfort. - Nevertheless, the question remains. - 'Why all of a sudden silence'?

Since 1270 represents a key resistance point, I'm expecting a battle before it's breached. If it's breached. There's strong momentum in play just now so I'm hoping it's just a matter of time. - Just one further point, I wouldn't want to be out of position in gold over the holidays. Strange thing have happened in the past during these closed periods, bearing in mind that Asia will still be in play. (I think)
