I know its very early in the day however we often hear Barcs has gone down more than others etc.., today it has gone up more than most! 5th highest riser on FTSE at time of typing. Only HSBC is higher in Banking.
We got to 1.93 only 4-5 weeks ago. A month is a very long time in the world of the Barclays share price! My take is when the dust settles on this weeks 'news', first quarterly update will come along (end of April) and we will get to 1.60-1.70 again, half year results at end of July will take it a little higher and it will sit around that for a while.
I know it was annouced a while back but just see RNS that the deal has completed. Paid 2.4 billion for KMC however includes 2.2 billion of back book (which will/should all be repaid)
Wasnt sure about the deal when it was first annouced, but with rising rates, does this now become a good thing?
If my knowledge is right, it has actually cost 200m (2.4b paid minus the 2.2b back book) and will make interst payment on that back book.
Anyone understand the deal better? Any good?
@seaking1 - Your memory is correct. I remember the talk. This artricle shows it was Bank of America when the shareprice was 730p!

I read WiseOwls message as this has become a gamble for lots of new 'investors'. The thinking is the same as sticking a few hundred quid on a 4/1 shot at the races and hope for the best. They could lose the lot (and very well know that could be the case) but could make a few quid. All stocks are a gamble but this is a 'real' bookie type gamble at the moment.
Spot on Mr A. Always nice to see people trade succesfully. I love seeing different thoughts on here. As said before, I am a long term holder, no plans to get out in the short term and for a number of reasons have picked these up at various prices over the last 15 years! Made somet, lost some, sold too early, purchsased too late, but overall done alright. I only track a small number of stocks closely.
Mr A - Do you trade other companies like you do Barcs?
Just looked it up (should have done that before posting)
The ex-dividend date is set the first business day after the stock dividend is paid (and is also after the record date). If you sell your stock before the ex-dividend date, you also are selling away your right to the stock dividend.
So today is the day people can 'dump' and still get divi, therefore it is holding up well!
Guess it would have been this https://www.vettimes.co.uk/news/cvs-takeover-of-the-vet-remains-on-hold-amid-competition-concerns/
Mr A - Not sure if you are aware but there have been some new episodes of Worzel. Watched them wsith my youngest over the last few years (3 or 4 episodes from memory) Not like the old ones that I rememebr as a nipper!
Happy New Year all.
Thats been a very nice trade Mr A. Well done. I think you said you was looking for 10% at some point and you waited for the entry point. Whats the get out price (172?)
I am still holding Mr A. Probably have more than I would like in this and have a pretty unbalanbced portfolio!!
I am always a long term investor and happy to wait for my target exit price. I have done pretty well over the years with the usual mistakes (being a bit greedy when the price is rising and not exiting the main one)
I am still hopefull for a return to the upper ends of 100s and maybe back to low 200 terriory over the next 12 months, time will tell!
