The price of gold continued to surge, topping $2,700 for the first time and setting a new all-time high.
Heightened tensions in the Middle East after Israel disclosed that it eliminated Hamas political leader Yahya Sinwar, the mastermind of the October 7 attack that triggered the war in the Gaza Strip, apparently boosted investors' appetite for the most valuable precious metal.
Gold jumped by 0.41% at 9:39 pm ET to sell for $2,703.99 per ounce. At the same time, silver rose by 0.80% to go for $31.95 per ounce. Platinum added 0.10% to sell for $997.01 per ounce. Palladium climbed by 0.22% to $1,031.74 per ounce.
