Major European stock indexes traded lower in premarket session on Monday, with investors focusing on the upcoming release of the US December producer price index on Tuesday, followed by the consumer price index on Wednesday. Inflation reports from France, Spain, Germany, the UK, and Italy are expected throughout the week, with the European Union's data scheduled for Friday, as markets prepare for the start of a new earnings season.
At 8:00 am CET, the FTSE 100 lost 0.09%. The Euro Stoxx 50 fell by 0.27%. The DAX decreased 0.19%. The CAC 40 dropped 0.16%.
The euro traded 0.26% below the dollar at 7:58 am CE, going for 1.02183. Simultaneously, the pound dropped 0.54% against the greenback, going for 1.21432.
