Gold hits new record high of $3,79829 Sep 2025 05:09
Gold hit a fresh all-time high, briefly going for $3,798.59 per ounce before easing back down slightly. The rally was driven by investor concerns over a possible shutdown of the United States government, alongside growing expectations that the US Federal Reserve will continue with interest rate cuts later in the year.
An increase in US President Donald Trump's rhetoric against the Fed also played its part, fueling fears about the central bank's independence and the stability of the US dollar.
Gold rose by 0.80% to go for $3,792.40 per ounce at 10:44 pm ET. Silver gained 0.87% and went for $46.48 per ounce at 10:51 pm ET. Meanwhile, platinum increased by 0.81% at the same time to go for $1,599.36 per ounce, and palladium rose by 0.88%, going for $1,265.22 per ounce a minute later.
