After the initial 6 months to a year I think the bulk of tests will be bought by businesses as further precaution.work places , airports ,nightclubs ,stadiums etc at no cost to government's they might be made mandatory and paid for by customer which nobody will mind at £5 or so.
This virus has run riot on world economies and cost many life's there will be a very cautious approach to returning to normality and LFTs will play a major role in that for many years.
Testing will be done at home the code from the test will be entered in to the app and give you a pass for 2 days or so.
Will some people cheat? Of course they will as people do with everything.
It will severely keep the r number down and will allow a full return for the economy all whilst the vaccination programme also keeps the r down.
All positive tests will require another test by post from BAMS to determine which strain of the virus is circulating in the community and to keep on top of new varients.
In the short and medium term the sp will be decided by how many tests we can make and sell.
There is also a hell of alot of investors sitting on the sidelines just now waiting for confirmation of CE mark as the implications turn Avacta into a mulit billion £ company.
When CE mark happens expect a large leg up.
So the new version of the saliva test is now being assessed and showing excellent preliminary results.
So I'm assuming nasal swab test already passed and revised saliva test is now going through porton down.
Seems the both tests are a go so long as revised saliva passes.
Incredible.
Just seems odd that big Al was previously stating once scale up at Abingdon and BBI was complete capacity would be "many tens of millions per month" .
Recently stating "several millions per month"
It may be he is just being conservative before official announcements.
Every country in the world can now have a 5 minute test with 96.7/100 accuracy.
All current manufactures all over the world can license avactas affimer reagents and cytivas strip and place them in their own LFT ,this is incredible.
What is even more incredible is we will never be limited to a number of reagents we can produce because our Affimers dont have all the short comings of traditional antibodies ( being grown in animals etc)
Once this news is released Avacta need to let the world know that we can put these affimer reagents in every test all around the globe and make a real impact on getting the world economy open again.
The Affimer platform is about to make its debute on the world stage, this is going to be huge!
Manufacturing capacity is going to be the driving force for the sp.
We could have the "many tens of millions per month" from BBI and Abingdon scale up plus additional capacity from Mologic partners and omega.
There is also a slight possibility of medusa being involved, can't see them using their 50 million per month capacity on their pointless tests which they won't sell.
Throw in the possibility of over seas manufacturing and this could go bonkers.
For me personally I'm in it for the long run.
I truly believe avacta are a giant the making and hope we don't get bought out(obviously wouldn't complain if bought out for silly money)
Theres no reason in 10 years time we can't be reaching the dizzying heights of the biotech giants, we have the credentials.
Anyone know of these companies.

Previously stated once scale up at Abingdon and BBI was complete testing capacity would be "many ten of millions per month" tho today's RNS would suggest otherwise.
God only knows the actual figure.
The problem is that the az vaccine is far less effective on the south African varient just now if that varient now has a significant mutation it could render that particular vaccine useless,
Yes the vaccines and test can be tweaked to work with new varients but vaccination would need to start at the beginning again which would clearly be a set back.
Luckily we have more than 1 vaccine fingers crossed they are better with the new varients.

We knew Mutations are going to be an issue didn't think these early varients would be escaping vaccines to this effect .
Let's hope a larger study finds this not to be as sevre.
