This forms part of major development/building works ongoing and intended for the area, which I think may account at least in part for the reopening of the Cambuslang branch.

Good point - business opportunities will come. And no matter who provides the cash, persons responsible for building safety will have to comply with new fire and other regulations. One would expect the industry as a whole to be able to show they are on top of this.

Undoubtedly Bae aspires to having cosy relationships with those Govts. who exercise control over Bae businesses and partnerships within their jurisdiction, both in terms of direct sales to their own military, and in terms of permission to export to third countries.
I cannot see that that necessary principle should affect the share-price, operating as Bae does on a commercial basis. ( though I expect whatever Govt contracts are subject to stringent limits on profitability - cost plus %age perhaps ) And the expectation of Govt. refusal to permit sales to a non-ally is presumably a pre-condition of doing business from within a particular country.
Non of that, in my view, would account for Bae's flagging share price.

I cannot answer specifically. I have not researched the assets. But on previous reading I understand they own and lease 1000plus properties covering millions of square metres on thousands of acres of land. Their in house research and development is, as one would expect, in part secret and in part highly collaborative with parts of the commercial sector to take advantage of ideas, and innovation, to quickly convert if possible to military production. That being the case, assistive funding comes from across the board, from venture capital at the smaller end to direct govt funding at the higher level. I expect all that is rather complicated, and may involve private independent companies (and commercial spin-offs.)And as we have seen recently, they get involved in things like track and trace and with a small company producing particular drones, which they see as having potential for military use. Just a generalisation.

I agree the thoughts. My original investment was based on the thought that in difficult times a well placed, regular ( under most circumstances ) dividend paying company would attract more investors. It may be doing so, but for some reason people will just not hold onto their shares, resulting in the poor sp performance. It seèms to me it could, and 'should' be advancing and trading at a consistently higher price. But no.........

No. But if we believe we originally Invested sensibly, and in fact the change in company status has been to the better, we also believe it has to change sometime. Why not now? Who knows if it will continue, but I am also happy to mark it down to the Prof. I will take gains, anytime, anyhow.

The sense of this is already recognised by govt., but construction are right to keep pushing themselves to the top of the economic agenda.

This week’s letter from the CLC to Rishi Sunak is a plea to recognise the industry’s potential to drive economic recovery

The construction industry has set out its case for a wide range of measures to boost companies facing “extremely challenging times” and help drive the economy ahead of the chancellor’s Budget in four weeks’ time.

In an open letter to Rishi Sunak this week, the Construction Leadership Council (CLC) argued for more state intervention and funding to help deliver government priorities, including achieving net zero targets, building safety remediation works, its ‘levelling up’ agenda, stimulating economic activity and protecting jobs.

The letter acknowledged government guidance had enabled construction sites to remain open during much of the pandemic, and that it had provided “ongoing assistance to our businesses and workers”.

Well, the opposite then Trinid. Less sells. But going up however is the thing, on merit. And I think there are no stupidos on here. Most will be holding and waiting it out, I believe.
