Electric Cars and Energy6 Nov 2019 01:58
I recently bought a Tesla Model 3 Performance. Best car I've ever driven. Quiet even under huge acceleration. Cruise with Auto Steering - great for Motorways, parts if North Circular, and roads outside of London. Once you'd tried you would never go to Petrol.
Cost a lot, but you can get cheaper electric cars. But in London their are lots paying similar for Huge Porches, Mercs, BMWs. And for those who can get as Company car their is much less tax making purchase a lot cheaper than other executive cars. I used to drive a Prius Plugin as a company car for that very reason.
On top of that Batteries are expected to last 500k Miles, Electric Motors 1 Million miles - Almost zero Maintenance. Cabin Air Filters, Washer Fluid and Tyres. Braking is mostly regenerative so apparently brakes down wear much.
When the prices come down, as they will, I can't see anyone wanting to buy a new Petrol or Diesel polluter. Second hand value of Petrol and an Diesel cars will plummet. Central London electric cars have no congestion charge - not that I would willingly drive there.
The future is electric mobility. That means Lithium Batteries.
Similarly instead of Gas Peaker Plants there will be huge Battery Storage. They will be cost competitive and not polluting.
Oh yes I forgot to mention over the last 1200 miles I've only paid £1.90 for Electricity. As currently I have free charging on Tesla Superchargers, and there are free fast chargers at my local Gym, Golf course, and Supermarket.
So with this resource BCN has a bright future. We have to await the financing. But the direction of transport and energy is heading electric at increasing speed.
On here I just hear the get rich quick brigade talking down the sp.
I can wait the few years for BCN to come good.
