Yuh, agreed. When I saw the SP fall - 4.61% presently - I thought it would be bad news, then couldn't see the reason in what look great figures and prospects. I suppose it's the slightly increased loss. They don't account for that, except perhaps in saying: 'Investment continues to be made into both new technology and strategic opportunities'. I would like a bit more info. Everything's there except the jam!

PS. And just to be clear there has been no major news since, trading update or whatever, except one RNS which came when the price was already back up in the 60's. And anyway Scampy said "The much anticipated RNS was'nt worth ****." [Actually it's really significant, for next year: but that's for IQE investors].

Incidentally, IQE and Haydale have some similarities: shares with ground breaking tech, loads of IP, but yet to really turn that into a profit. IQE is much further down the road. Both have tech that could become universal if all went right, and hence have vast potential, which makes for volatility and less experienced shareholders attracted by the story and possible giant payday, who can be vulnerable to persistent silver tongued blandishments. And of course these companies are very hard to value so it becomes all about impressions.

It's always worth being aware of the negatives and Scampy will always - and sniff those out for you, fairly or not. When the share is rising he will go back to his kennel and lie down quietly, but will bark like fury when it has a down day or starts to fall. But you will not get any consideration of the positives from him (maybe after all it is a bit much to ask - woof). So be careful. Someone on the IQE board sold out the same day (5th Sept) he proclaimed what a great post Scampy had made: SP was 49.44p, doomed to plumb further depths of course by you-know-who ("This share price is absolutely screwed from here on in......."). Now it's 72.93p. 47.5% increase in under 8 weeks. The person who sold out must be chewing their arm off. So take care.

Thanks, Barchid. But, please forgive my ignorance, surely that would be illegal? If there is a problem that any prospective buyer can spot and so sheer away from, wouldn't it by law be something that should be RNS'd as well, for us lot? We're also buyers. And yet I agree that it's very strange the SP falling so far in a company with so much going for it, and yet there hasn't been a single bid. My only guess,completely in the dark, would be that the software integration or whatever it is ain't going so well...

Yes. It's great that it's not ITX that produces something and then has to go round hawking i: the customers are coming to them saying "can you produce this - and we'll share development!" Brilliant. And someone at Croda has his/her head screwed on. THEY see the potential.

I have to admit I really don't understand this "market economy"! Sold value was just now 2.4 X the Bought value, and the price is up 2.65%! Mix of automatic and ordinary trades.

I'm not complaining, I'm very long. I believe in the long term case for IQE and that's why I'm in and it's a Strong Buy for me. I believe they have something unique, patented, hard to replicate, and in important areas, with several and increasing income streams, experienced staff incentivised to stay with them (all those options that cost us nothing till the cake grows), pretty good finances, and government backing. (And, believe it or not, I like the way the management works.) But the short term price variations are beyond me, until we get updates the sp just blows in the wind, whatever direction it's in that day.

Wow, talk about a recommendation! This must be the worldwide and incredibly expensive effort to make the next step in fusion power, ie free energy for ever, producing no CO2. I would guess if the heat transport system fails then you have a very VERY big problem. Fusion power is a controlled continuous H-bomb, from which the heat has to be removed for electricity generation. If it fails quite likely you have a huge fusion bomb - ie H-bomb - in the middle of Europe. AVG are being trusted for total reliability in one of the riskiest situations possible. I'm NOT a nuclear physicist, but that would be my amateur understanding, which others are welcome to contradict/expand on.

Sold in 2017 @60, back in now. Shapely set of figures, trends look good - to this amateur. Into profit, directors buying strongly. Hope I don't lose money on it again: last time it was a disaster.

Some large transactions over the last couple of days, if the O/A & Buy/Sell indicators can be trusted the biggest are not automatic, and they are buys.

Out of approx 50 trades I can see 2 are unknown so could be anything, one is ordinary, and the rest are 'Automatic Execution'.

Machines playing games with each other. Reassuring?

Morning all. For me, all views are welcome, including negative, particularly when justification is made for them. That's helpful. I keep a close eye on one or two people who seem to know what they are doing, one of whom is seadoc, who was straightforward about shorting IQE a while back, justified it, and got it right. Respect! But if people seem to say one thing and do another then their views confuse the issue. I cannot see that views expressed on here are going to move the share one way or the other, it's almost all machine trading after all, but they could influence an individual investor - if not, why do we come here?

I was just writing out the request that Scamp would specify any companies he knows that really are in direct competition with IQE in their compound semiconductor field. I don't believe anyone here has ever actually specified any direct competitor and if he knows any surely it would be useful for all long holders to know.

I know nothing of shorts, so this may be ignorant, but I don't see the relevance to an LTH, which you say you are. Sometime the upward pressure will win out, the exit will cram, and LTH's will be very happy.

If debt was a problem for IQE, which it is not, then maybe; or if they needed capital investment. But they've made all their investments for the time being - a long time being - and they've only just dipped once out of profitability, almost certainly very briefly. If you want to question that "briefly" remember 2 major Android customers are now starting production for VCSEL where we had none before, and the announcement in July, also post period end, of new wireless production starting. You can throw fear around as much as you like those ARE facts - and not opinions, cf your post the other day. It's no wonder IQE are predicting an H1/H2 45/55% revenue split, which would take them back into profitability. Plus the iphone seems to be doing very well.

I take it these are at least some of the reasons you are an LTH!
