HVDC is a bit niche and only really viable for long distance transmission purposes. Not viable for distribution networks. The costs with associated switchgear are prohibitive, IMHO.

Hi bellers. Exactly. 500 sqmm cables are ever more frequently used now. Give it 5 years and you'll start to see all those charging points go live. The investment planned for the next 10/15 yrs is phenomenal. And yes, I also own shares in SSE and am considering NG in the less adventurous part of my portfolio....

Some great points raised by markj and bellers. Not sure aluminium will ever win over copper in the electricty industries eyes, however.

The current standard for high voltage cables is to lay 3 single core cables, less stiffness but more of them. With the huge push to make networks fit for net zero over the next 10/15 years, the companies are investing billions upgrading their networks. All the cables will need higher ratings, so copper will still have a huge part to play when the aluminium cables simply get too big to physically handle.

Over the last 30 to 40 years the industry has always flirted between aluminium and copper depending on the prevalent price at the time. I dont see anything changing much here over the next few decades.

200m shares is a serious amount to be able to call on if needed to raise further cash. It does strengthen PRD position when potentially negotiating asset disposals with any 3rd party.

15 months quoted is also interesting. That takes us til around Aug 2025. And that's when they currently expect to conclude any serious business by at the very latest.

@Niraj, schemiel is right. Anyones guess really depending on how optimistic or pessimistic you are.

Some long term holders will quite happily take any profit after the pain they've been through, quite understandably too. Others hoping for valuations in the £bns. The answer will prob be somewhere in between, once they are taken out by a bigger fish. Whatever the final valuation, some of us will feel it too cheap! Lol

What's not to like here? It's a glorious day and finally, SEE look like they're about to make their move upwards. Promising numbers there meaning breakeven is sharply coming into focus.

Agree with Taverham. This just has to be a takeover target in 2 to 3 yrs time. How much is anyone's guess, but will be bags from here.

Having been here since 2013, our patience has been tested to breaking point. Let's hope we get the rewards we deserve for holding firm.

Sorry whatif, I take the opposite view. All successful businesses build a strong community ethos amongst their workforce. Key ingredient for this is an emotive vision everyone can get behind creating passion and a clear sense of purpose.

Past examples include the cleaner who helped NASA send people into space. I've come across people who help build ships for the navy, no matter how junior their role.

I'd leave it as it is.

As I humbly called it yesterday...SJ will prob start in the next couple of weeks and be done by month end.

They're prob still negotiating running order for sv101. That's anyone's guess but they will be trying their hardest to align timescales with SJ as much as possible.

@IJWT - I share your frustration to an extent on timescales, as im sure we all do. But I suspect there is no news because negotiations are still ongoing on the running order for rig use with the other interested parties. If I was PG and thought I'd be at the back of a v long queue, I'd be on a charm offensive to try and push myself to the front of it.....as for sand jet, it wouldn't surprise me if that kicked off in a couple of weeks, or they slightly delay it to align with the drill rig work. All just guess work for us but just wanted to offer other potential explanations for the delays in comms. Not all delays are bad.

@Jimmy, I can see the logic behind your concern re priorities but I believe they want their cake and eat it. I.e. get both sandjet and mou5 drilled as soon as they possibly can to maximize value. I guess time will tell if they get this right or other delays manifest themselves for either option.
