I think not. Look how it's slowed down here since the announcements. If consolidation makes the shares more attractive to institutions, it follows that it will be less attractive to small investors and traders. All my safe investments have VERY slow chat boards here, and I kinda hope this goes the same way in truth.
Won't it be nice when we only pop on occasionally to celebrate F1 victory or the next huge news?
I've read all 212 pages of the prospectus a few times.
I don't remember seeing any minimum holding requirements.
Your belief and understanding seem to align with mine.
On p.55 of prospectus in the 'Expected timetable' there is mention of cheques being sent to certain fractional holders, but I feel sure I've read elsewhere in the prospectus that fractional holdings would be disposed of for the benefit of the company.
With that in mind it's probably best to buy or sell a few to hold a safe 20x multiple, or you might lose up to 14 whole pounds at todays price.
Yes. On Monday 14th Dec you will have 20x fewer shares at 20x the closing price on Friday 11th Dec.
The theory is that it makes the company more attractive to institutional investors.
Long-term I'm very happy with that.
Your mileage may vary.
Mike. Every share carries 1 voting right. There is no minimum required to vote.
If you hold your shares in a nominee account (x-o, HL, AJB, halifax etc) you need to contact your broker re: corporate actions and advise them on how you wish to vote.
Have a few ITM. The future's green so needed something in that sector and it had a certain 'feelgood' factor.
However the 30% swings have been irresistable over the last 6 months so it became a trader.
Holding now though!
Consolidation is reducing the number of shares and inreasing their value proportionally to appeal to a larger inverstor base.
The prospectus is selling you the deal as you will need to vote for it at the AGM on Dec 4th. Prospectus are sent to physical share holders and the big boys. We read it on the aston martin investor website.
Not having been through a consolidation myself, last night I went for a sniff around the big dogs.
They said the consolidation is to get rid of little Pupper and his friends!
I said "No. It's my company now and I'm keeping it!"
They laughed gruffly, and said that 'more often than not' the consolidation will be followed by an 'offer PI's cannot refuse'!
Not sure I liked the sound of that, but they assured me it would be a financial inducement to sell.
So, what's YOUR 'can't refuse' number? (based on todays nmbers rather than post-consolidation)
I don't want to sell, but £5 would tempt me.
CP85 Lots of people are after quick money. We sell, we buy, we change our minds. I want to hold AML forever and brag about it, but you better believe that if this opens at £5 tomorrow I'll be gone!
This morning we hit 83.7p high and settled around the 82 mark.
Very short term we already saw a substatial drop to 75.5 shortly after the RNS dropped. We then saw a climb back to 79.5p into close.
This isn't the way it's gone during the previous 2 spike events this year. They just plummeted.
IMO This rise has been built on the back of the Mercedes deal. It has brought AML into an investable window to many of the more risk-averse PI's I've spoken to.
I'd guess there may be some price volatility in the morning as the latecomers absorb the RNS, but hope to see the underlying rise continue through tomorrow. We'll see. The important thing is to be on your toes should you see numbers you don't like.
Short term? Dude! You own 1300 shares in freakin Aston Martin! Tell your friends every time you see one!
Medium term? Dude! You own 65 shares in Aston Martin but they're worth 20 times more!
Long term? Dude! Aston Martin paid for your Vaxhall Vectra!
Oh good god yes! Sorry! Long term I am all for this consolidation, it can only be a good thing.
Short term on the other hand, with so many PI's seemingly driving the markets at the mo, there's no telling how the price will react.
