If Rio are seriously considering Deutsche Bank's suggestion to make a move on Newcreast, then it may explain why there seems to be a renewed urgency to target Scallywag. It's possible that Newcrest have urged GGP to see what's there or GH thinks Newcrest may make an offer for GGP Paterson licenses. Either way it make perfect sense to prove up the assets as fast as possible to realise value for GGP. It's all speculation at this point, but it would not surprise me that something going on in this area.

No, it's most likely the investment agreements were finalised just before releasing to the RNS service, and were probably done in a hurry. The final agreement is bound to coincide with the expiry of those warrants. If the warrants were all exercised, then they wouldn't have needed to get those investors on board to raise cash.

Because AIM listed companies can't just sit on market sensitive news and release when they feel like it - it is illegal.

The Scallywag target, located within the Company's 100%-owned Havieron licence, consists of several magnetic anomalies over a large area of approximately 6km by 4km, each with the potential to host gold, silver and/or copper mineralisation. MMI sampling over the Scallywag target was completed in late Q3 2018 and the results are reported below.

· Copper, silver and gold MMI responses detected along the western parts of the target area over a strike length of approximately 6km;

· Multiple pathfinder element responses (including arsenic, cerium and lanthanum) were also detected along this trend with several clusters of samples displaying a strong multi element response;

· Highest results returned from MMI sampling included 2750ppb copper, 8ppb silver, 0.4ppb gold, 50ppb arsenic, 480ppb cerium and 280ppb lanthanum;

· The grouping patterns of certain elements, as seen in the MMI response over parts of the Scallywag target, are similar to those patterns seen in MMI and drill assays from the Havieron prospect.

Because GGP will still own 30% of the project at the end of the JV period (or 25% if NC purchase another 5%), GGP will be entitled to a share of any profit from production (royalties). It depends on whether the asking price for the remaining share is advantageous to NC compared to the total projected profit from Havieron over time. A buyout of the entire Paterson licenses or the whole company will require a lot more proving up of resources. If Black Hills and Scallywag are both advanced positively, NC may make an offer to buy those licenses. Nobody really knows how this will pan out, but if gold prices continue higher it increases the likelihood that NC will want to grab what they can. That's why the "right of first refusal" was in the agreement, so they have that option.

So you only gained 60% with your SII shares - not much really. My investment in GGP is now 7 times what I paid for it. Asset management companies that invest mainly using diversified portfolios reflecting the underlying market should always provide a modest return, unless they are badly managed - not difficult. But they do very badly when the overall market goes down. It's far better to identify great companies and hold long term - not easy. The longer you hold outstanding companies, the lower the risk over time.

ChristopheB, your view of risk in AIM small caps is probably appropriate for people who do not do proper research into individual companies, or simply don't understand what they are researching. If you really knew anything about Greatland, you would realise that they are in a rather unique position in terms of operating location, license holdings, strategy, joint venture agreement, gold prices, and much more. Greatland is no longer your average junior gold explorer. Applying "Rick Rule" type statistics to investing is for "know nothing" investors.

The reason I say charts are of no use is that the worlds top traders from Goldman Sachs and the like say so. I agree with them because share prices are driven by so many different events and human behaviour - I prefer to learn from the most successful people in the financial world such as Anton Kreil and mentors, Ray Dalio, Warren Buffet etc.

So, you bought when the price was high and everyone was excited about it. Ok, something you will learn from in time. I've done the same thing when I started, and learned the hard way.

rumple, you can't work out how a company will perform using technical indicators, or predict how people will react to any given event using charts. I only look at charts to see a long term trend as a matter of curiosity - I would never ever base any investment decisions on technical chart indicators because they don't work and cannot work.

Rumple, if you look at the price chart over a period of 5 years or more, you can see over time we have higher lows and higher highs. The current upswing hasn't finished playing out yet. Of course, if you don't have patience to wait a few more years for big gains, then we would be happy to buy your shares.

Tymers, that's only if you are lucky. But most likely it will not play out as you expect.
