It's a very basic profanity checker Jezzoo, what it does is turns your post into lower case and then checks a list of lower case naughty words against your post (this is because case insensitive matching was not available in classic ASP, the tech it is written in). If it spots any it stars them out. One amusing bug/side effect is that it then leaves your post in all lower case.

it's not looking for context, much like the early examples where towns like S.cun.thorpe were masked out. It's pretty woeful really but this is a 25+ year old site with tech to match.

Quady, models are just that. They model things. And in this case they model the climate because for example, we can't rewind the world 300 years and see what happens without an industrial revolution.

So they use assumptions and parameters in the absence of repeatable, observable experiments.
