Hi Fatal, I think there may be a subcategory rule on the off topic lists.
Eurovision, eggs, random light hearted ribbing and of course the perfect Sunday night/Monday lunch sandwich of left over roast beef with fresh horseradish are all acceptable.
Deep stuff like politics, religion, and war, which often has a foot in one or both of the other deep stuff camps are probably better avoided.

Your guess is as good as anyone else. I suspect the deep topics force people to explore areas they are less comfortable sharing openly on a share based BB?

for the most part my oilers are doing OK. For the sake of the planet you are probably right hydrocarbons as a fuel source may have had their day, but they do have other uses (many also not environmentally great)

CLON I confess it was on my radar alongside UJO and MATD. I seem to remember I identified CLON as the least likely to come good in the short to medium term - just before it came good. Not my finest hour.
I still have a small interest in all 3 but my holding ratios could have been better.

Having steered a risk averse family member into banks and food retail back in August form a property disposal not all of my calls have been as bad.

It has been a mixed year for me, looking at my performance critically I would grade myself (B - ) (not sure how that translates to the modern marking methods). Must try harder next year.
Who knows maybe BPC UJO or MATD could see me back as an A grade student next year. Based on my holding ratios I would prefer it to be BPC.

happy to go off subject with you fatal but have a preference for trivial stuff - Eurovision is a perfect example.

I like Scotland.
I have met far more Scottish people that I like than I dislike.
I am disappointed that with Sturgeon it appears so many Scots would like to end a great Union than defend it.

Aside from the issues of currency and borders, defence and international support there is the small issue that with Boris getting Brexit done he takes all of the Union states out of Europe. Where does that leave Scotland?
Out of Europe, out of the United Kingdom trying to make trade agreements alone as a small but proud independent country.
Admittedly there will probably be a request to rejoin the European union, all member states post Brexit are using Euros so that becomes the currency.
Will Scotland as an independent country have the same sway and influence within Europe as the UK?

Returning to domestic politics a country where 40+ seats out of 55 vote for 1 party is close to having an elected dictatorship.
What credible opposition will the SNP have, will the party itself fracture along points of division (hopefully not religious ones as that rarely ends well)

In short I think an independent Scotland ironically has less freedom than Scotland in a devolved union.

Maybe it is the devolution that needs to be reviewed rather than the union?

I know where I would like to be going...back over 2p would be the first forward step on the remains of this epic journey.
Intrigued as to what will happen in the election and what the implications will be for the future. As Fatal points out it could be a rocky market ahead. Blue win = Brexit and all the challenges / opportunities therein. Red win = new deal followed by an informed referendum, mixed feelings on that, is it the right thing to have an informed decision or is it going against a democratic process? Yellow (north), could bring about the end of The Union. Yellow (south) not up to date enough to hold an informed view. Purple/Green/NI/Welsh/Other, may as well promise zero tax and a free unicorn as they are not playing on a level playing field and will never have to deliver.

However it plays out we can take comfort in the fact it is not Donald or Vladimir - conspiracies welcome here. Be thankful we have the right to a democracy.

joking aside, I think even as an objective person it is hard not to see the case the board are making for the drill to go ahead now. It is very much in their interest to get the drill done. They have the cash (or at least have the cash mostly lined up subject to a couple of hurdles) They are doing what they can to bring the Bahamian people on board. They have letters of intent with major players - can argue the merit of the rights and wrongs of the chosen contractors.

In 6 months or less we will have a fair view of what is in the ground, there will have been opportunities to top slice if that is peoples approach.
Given the time frame many of us have been in BPC 6 months is but a few sleeps away.

You know it is time to return to the motherland when you start to like lemon in your tea. It masks the fact you can't get a decent brew outside of our fair Union.

Fatal, a good handyman can cover a multitude of roles. An all purpose domestic handy(wo)man (equal opportunities) should be able to tend the garden, manage the wardrobe, turn down the bed, cook, clean, drive, manage a social diary and of course be 'handy' in a stress relieving way, amongst other things.

If BPC ever really flies I may hire one for a year just to see how it all works in practice.
