I might not get a 150 buy in but the dry powder is ready just in case of a sudden (or not so sudden) inverse spike. GLA

Well, looks like some aren't wanting to hold over the weekend given the slow selling today (they wouldn't want to upset the other 'bots would they ). Expecting 2% down at close and 2.5% lows before the day/week shorters cover. Bur another day without those big falls last week should tempt bargain hunters to buy small parcels keeping us in the mid 150s.

Tomorrow will be interesting, folks selling 'afore the w'end or further gains here as the markets hopefully stabilise. As for Evergrande (note the 'e' for the luxurious cache (a bit like banks calling themselves 'banc'). Maybe some dough will flow to airlines and out of property over the coming months.

Broker notes on airline not too bad considering, and inflation falling a little (raising int rates might be put off now) as folks slowly return to work (uk gov tax receipts up).
Could be mainly be the ninja shorters covering today and the 'bots tempting in bargain hunters only to drop the floor this afternoon. Friday could see more selling as folks may not want to hold over the weekend depending on the news of course. Dry powder at the ready but will buy a tiny number on good news days and not the bad days ! GLA

Not too bad a drop so far today ! Expecting a -4.5 % though. Shorters won't cover any time this week I should imagine. Dry powder at the ready though. I tend to watch heating oil as its from the same area of the cracker as jet fuel. It's just over 2006 so far.
As for oil, my old beau HBR that lovely oil and gas company that should be raking in in is well in the red today. Maybe the oil industry isn't expecting the high oil prices to last as more wells are ramped up again. Only so many refiners mean spreads there are quite high and a bottlenecks seems apparent. So lower jet fuel, improved supply chains and lower covid numbers (and forthcoming winter flu) and more flights. Sooner or later we'll be back to the 170's again. Happy to wait until next summer then we should start to really motor. Fingers crossed. GLA

Brokers clients would have been selling long before the downgrade goes 'public', so no surprises. Heating oil (airline fuel- medium distillate stuff) is at 2006 levels or thereabouts but what we haven't heard in the news so much is the supply chain issues for spare plane parts.
Still, folks will be returning to work in droves as (that expensive time of year ) approaches (and flying to see folks). Tempted sell some gold to buy in here now i'm below my buy in here at ~174 would be nice to top up in the 160's, who knows.

HBR started dropping just as brent and gas was climbing steeply. Maybe the same/ similar will occur with airline shares. Could be the ii's looking for a low buy in price so the 'bots trade down to a better buy-in price. We'll see though.

Don't forget the likely interest rate raising too. At least heating oil/ jet fuel oil isn't at all time highs like in 2006 but just past 2018 level.
Even large oilies/ gasies like TLW and HBR aren't up more that .65% today.
Still, RR down today but looked at their ultrafan gearbox article ~25% fuel saving too and ~74mw 100k hp engine. Good stuff for the future.

Flight number up- the figures as Mr. Buffett will translate into a stronger sp sooner or later, even if the airlines are feeling pasty for a few more months, plenty of legs here imo.

Good the see the sp actually rising. Those who have sold at 100% profit have cleared or have stayed ..for another 100% ! Markets were pretty wobbly over inflation and int' rates. All in a weeks work in the money game.
