I’ve got a mere 816 you could buy. I’d want £2 each for them though.
Some of us were honourable and wouldn’t do such things. In my 27 year stint I only ever “wagged it” once when I wanted to go on a Porsche club visit to the Airbus factory in Wales.
Great story Ian. Sounds like a boarding school.
Hope you’re well Les; whilst at Fort William visit a pub called The Grog and Gruel. My parents went years ago and returned with one of the pub’s T-shirts for me. Alas it was cut off me during a hospital visit, so my mother promptly rang the pub up to send me a replacement which I still have.
Cheers Tilly, just read that. Keep it going.
I paid 42.5p for £15ks worth……I still have them. And a lot more of course.
JB, it’s not untrained postmen who don’t get recorded letters signed for; it’s lazy ones who can’t be bothered knocking on the doors and waiting for a signature. OR the panickers who rush around like loons who tear the recorded stickers off. I personally only think two services should be used, 2nd class or Special Delivery. Recorded is a waste of time.
No doubt the market will put the sp up to £4.30 if DK ups his stake near the 30% mark?
Yes, IsleworthSpy, it reminds me of the days of two deliveries. We were out on the first at 7am, having got to work at 5am, you could get rid of your packets as people were still at home, then a quick break (or do half a walk on overtime) then do the 2nd delivery and be back home for noon. Money for old rope, happy days.
Hi JB. I don’t know is the simple answer. Hope you’re well too.
I’ve just asked one of my old workmates; he’s not accepting it.
Happy days Les, enjoy. And the Gooners are STILL top of the league, what a present for you! But it pains me to say Man ****ty will overtake you soon.
Hm, weekly post: it’d work for me. So if we usually get say, 7 items of mail a week (some people get far more) you’d propose it all getting delivered on one day per week? It’s a shame the general public aren’t allowed to visit a delivery office to see exactly how many letters posties have to deliver as this idea would be almost impossible to occur.
teslo@ when I was working (retired 2018) most of the posties weren’t interested in the shares and it’s price. They used to laugh when the price fell. I told them all to fill their boots at the IPO but only myself and the Dom bought the full amount:3030 shares. Afterwards a few did do the sharesave scheme. Generally in my view posties don’t understand the importance of the share price. I keep in touch with an old colleague and when I tell him if Kretinsky takes over they’ll all be in trouble he just laughs it off.
DenFos, with respect, have you ever done the job? I did it for 27 years and it got progressively harder. There’s no time to chat with customers any more, there’s so many items that have to be scanned. Give it a try, if you can, maybe ask your own postie could you tag along with him one day.
I’m suddenly seeing lots of ads on here. How do I get rid?
Daccord what’s your post to do with the original message? It should have a separate heading. And also what has your message to do with Eurasia Mining? Don’t bother answering as you’re going straight in the green bin with all the other numpties.
Who knows but I think of Ian Duncan Smith when I hear IDS!
Hi Red. Yes there’ll probably be some big changes soon. I’ve taken part in earlier disputes mainly because I never used to worry about money (and crossing any picket lines would have alienated me even more with my fellow posties. I did drive expensive cars and wore a Rolex to work etc) and not getting paid for not working seemed fair to me. But ultimately striking didn’t help anyone and seemed pointless to me.
Royal Mail did change its name a few years ago to Consignia. Lasted about 6 months before they changed it back. This new name is equally ridiculous. I’m glad I’m retired.
Ah, a civilised chat board…..
