Red: “few extra pounds”. How dare you, I cycle 5000 miles a year! And I go to the gym now, so no weight gained here. I used to be a chubby kid and will never be again. I’m just wondering whether RM could afford me!
I might go to my delivery office to make a comeback! I wonder what the pay rate is?
Red, the 2nd deliveries consisted of hardly any mail (that’s why they were stopped).
Red, I did do it in my car; it could possibly have taken a lot longer if I’d have done it on foot. Not the 911, but my old Fiesta!
OliGarch, yes haha. Once, I had 3 2nd deliveries to do on overtime. I got 6 hours for it, it took about an hour and a half! AND we got bus fares paid in cash; one week I got over £40 in cash, I didn’t have to draw my wages! Those were the days (about 20 years ago).
Jimmy88, you don’t half speak sense. FWIW I used to think we were fantastically well paid for what we did. But as my moniker implies I wasn’t your usual postie!
Hm, I was expecting an official RNS this morning.
I’ve just got my average down 40p to 28p, woohoo!
And what are we all hoping the SP will get to?
Newdealz yes you’re right about pay rises, we’ve got to reduce inflation. I also don’t think striking is the answer; if people can afford to they obviously don’t need the money! Surely working to rule and not doing overtime would work? When I was a Postie we officially had to do a van check every morning, nobody did as there was no time. If we had then we wouldn’t have been able to complete our duty.
AngerSharkz@ yes they’re all over FB complaining “why is my mail delayed?” and suchlike. In view of all the strikes they should just accept mail is going to be later than normal and don’t send off for anything they desperately need before Xmas. OR, actually GO to the shops to buy things, making sure the trains are running first though! Anyway, I’m sure Xmas was invented by shopkeepers or Royal Mail….
I’ve still got 5000 of these at an average of 68p. Will I ever see my money back?
To wait now; 3 weeks and we’ll all be quids in. Woohoo!
With the clamour by posties to get rid of ST I asked one of my old colleagues who exactly he’d like in charge. His answer: someone who’s done the job. Fair point I thought.
Well of course it’s a mess. What do you expect the managers to do when the posties haven’t been there? It’d be like trying to stop an avalanche with an umbrella.
When will the union realise that striking isn’t working?
BigShyTed, wow £65k as a postie? A hell of a lot of overtime?
Perhaps all the posties who can afford to go on strike should donate?
Dividend? I thought we aren’t getting one?
What’s the “12 week rule”?
