very surprised if we've not made a ton of money this Christmas as we've delivered loads of packets; more than I've ever seen at this time of the year. I'm just now hoping that the dispute will be solved and we can get back to normal.

I didn't think privatisation was a good idea but it happened and I saw an opportunity to invest. I've never worried about going out on strike (it's not a particularly good idea) as we don't actually lose anything, so I'll be doing what the union suggests. And as much as most were against privatisation most still accepted the free shares! I don't think we'll go on strike though, but you never know.

We were allowed to buy 3030 at £3.30 (only me and the then boss did so). I told my fellow Posties to jump on board but none did. I bought the rest with inheritance money for the dividend (currently about £3500 a year). With regards to the RM pension I've cashed mine in (I'm 56) and invested the lump sum in 10 FTSE 100 shares for even more dividends, but I'm not touching all this until I'm 60. And I've a new Porsche coming in March as well (Cayman GTS). I AM an unusual Postie though! Onwards and upwards.

Would you believe some posties at our office just asked for their money back from the share option scheme which has recently matured? Dense, eh? I cashed mine as I've still got 15000 of the buggers. I could do with selling some but I'm averaging £4.53 and I hate to sell at a loss. Ps. I do hope you'll be tipping your Postie this Xmas!

I'm wondering if the market knows about the above which matures a week on Friday? There may be one or two shares coming to market. And yes, there's lots and lots of parcels being delivered here in Manchester. But we'd rather not go on strike: it's no good for anyone. According to OUR union rep the mediator doesn't understand what RM are after.

I didn't particularly think it was a good idea (to sell the company) but was one of two in our office to buy the maximum we were allowed to (the other being the office manager). But, I digress, let's hope this is all settled and we can get the SP up.

Another blot on the future SP is the share option scheme which ends 1st December so I can imagine lots more shares being sold by staff (me included as I already hold lots).

Why do you want the dividend to drop? That'll deter investors, the sp will drop then someone else like Deutsche Post might take us over. Some Posties on here have no idea.

Yes, I think we're well paid as well! I'm a shareholder (as well as our freebies) and I also voted to strike even though striking doesn't help anyone. It'll get sorted eventually; it's just a shame it's taking so long.

The problem with the vote to strike is that the wording on the ballot paper asks if we are prepared to strike. Of course we are prepared to strike. Now if it had said do we think it's a good idea to strike then maybe the answer would have been different. I personally don't mind going on strike as we're not actually losing anything if we do, ie no work no pay. We should really do a work to rule; no overtime etc.

you may be right. I'm selfishly looking at it from my own point of view. But there are some low paid jobs out there so I think we're quite lucky. Onwards and upwards
