RE: UK exports2 Nov 2022 09:48
U.K. the only G7 country not to have regained its pre covid size. Has not managed to capitalise on any of brexit so now has all the worst of leaving and none of the benefits of remaining. The buck stops with Cameron who thought it would be a hung parliament and that the Lib Dem’s would block any mad self harming referendum, so he thought he could promise it without having to deliver, get the support of the loonies on the right wing of the party, the rest is impoverishing history and shows why no sensible countries have referendums, most people are just too thick to do the maths. U.K. has lost 20pc of its trade with the largest trading block in the world that the U.K. had helped shape and that lost trade has not been replaced by anything. U.K. now has trashed sterling ( sucking in more inflation ) a political crisis ( Sunak won’t survive passed the riots this winter ) a stock market below where it was 23 years ago, parabolic inflation and rising rates into a full on recession and coming collapse in asset prices ( house prices will re rate to 2013 levels, Savills have slated 30pc plus fall ) . The only hope is a general election, Tories have been an utter disaster ( come back Blair ) and rejoin the EU and just put the whole brexit mess down to scum like Boris and Farage.
