Cobus Loots, CEO of Pan African Resources, on delivering sector-leading returns for shareholders. Watch the video here.
A four month delay is certainly not unheard of in routine local government decision making. My last company, in a country with almost the same gdp per capita as Morocco, is dependent on local government contracts being awarded every year and expiring 31 December. Generally the renewal process would be completed in March or April and the majority of remote communities would have no public transport for that time because of it. Not sure if this is a fair comparison but that’s my experience with government, luckily government is very straight-forward and decision making is always fast here in the UK. ??
I agree, Graham must know the ins and outs of getting potash mines established as he’s done it before, where I imagine knowledge and experience in doing exactly that will really be a benefit over any other CEO that could have been appointed.
Price of fertilisers is becoming a regular complaint in the farming community here, not much to do about it other than use more land, which not everybody has access to. Unfortunate for the people farming, but the ratio between crop yield and fertilisers used has gone up and I haven’t seen many go out of business. Don’t think prices will be going down any time soon.
Indeed the cottage gardens of old were extremely fertile and productive when this was the case before. At former potash prices it was a great project, with prices staying around current levels even more so.
Interesting article, high fertiliser prices seem to be offset by an increase in prices of crops and their yield. Could keep the price high for a while to come, especially with a supply that’s not increasing much.

Been lurking a while... I think it unlikely the permit will be issued until the new government is formed, whatever stage of approval it is at. Too good an announcement to make by a new government to show they get things done and single-handedly created millions of jobs.
