I suggest you read Janesville - An American Story, if you'd like a real insight into the American Dream. Yes, low unemployment but the wages are terrible. US minimum wage is $7.50 / hr. A high proportion of US jobs pay sub $11 / hr, so many Americans have to juggle 2-3 jobs just to get by and not lose their homes. Don't see the USA as a panacea. Trump only cares about business making money, not the ordinary citizen. This is the real prospect for the UK outside the EU. And lets not forget 200K job vacancies in the NHS - it's only getting worse from here with an ageing population. There a many of you posting here today that will respond with insults - I don't give a S*** I'm just trying to balance the view, which on this board is leaning very far right.

In 20-30 yrs time when the grey stodgy mass of Brexiters have shuffled off this mortal coil, the enlightened younger generation will be negotiating BRE-ENTRY in an effort to bring decent jobs and working conditions back and once again to have a say in / be part of a united Europe.

I'm invested here. I don't really know why - dividend yield i guess. Truth is UKGOV regardless of which party blame the banks for 2008 subprime crisis (which we'll be paying for for decades) - the yanks caused it, profited from it and UK banks got foolishly involved at a latter stage. Since 2008 bank bashing is a national pastime - can't see that changing. After PPIs done with they'll come up with something else for the compo-culture vultures to feast on. Eventually the SP will rebound to decent levels and even reach 100 !! but when is anyones guess........GLA

As I predicted 3 hours ago price returning to NAV which is around 19P. About right for a company with very uncertain future. Bounce will be purely on speculation of a bid re FLYB. Lots of rampers here playing with other peoples hard- earned. GLA but don't bet your shirt....................

It's interesting how we all have different experiences. I've insured my car via Saga for last 5 years. Just got renewal quote at £230 protected fully comp 2 drivers. When I search for equivalent cover I can't get much lower. Also get house contents / buildings - all very reasonable. I have no complaints at all.

19p is net asset value so parity almost reached. Will be a buy below this.

£50K debt!!

Not that simple Hooky. These jobs aren't attractive to many. Emotionally, technically, physically demanding with low reward. We can't attract enough young people into these careers. Most of the jobs are graduate entry and were offering starting salaries in the low £20K's to those with £50 debt. Much cheaper to get ready trained migrants from countries with high unemployment. The Tories are responsible for every level of this mess. They tripled student fees, have ruined schools and frozen public sector pay for 6/10 years. I hate that party with a vengeance.

I work in the NHS (30+ years) and it's under major strain due to huge 80+yrs population of white British. There are 200,000 NHS vacancies - not enough skilled migrants. We need migration to help look after us, pay the taxes to support the ever increasing retired white British population. Brexit is a disaster for this nation. The Polish are leaving in droves, the Spanish nurses will be drifting away, the standard of living is spiralling downwards (house prices to follow) and the pound so weak foreign holidays will be a distant memory. Camerons vanity project to neutralise UKIP has cost this country very dear indeed.

It's not the weather. It's the exorbitant cost of a family 2 week holiday in the school holidays. £3K for something really mediocre. £5K for something okay. £5K!! Most families are just getting by. Brexit threat has doomed the pound and confidence so families are Staycating. For companies like TCG to pick up we need 1.4 euros / £. Post no deal Brexit we could see euro = pound. That would doom TCG. Yes, the rich will always be rich and take fab holidays, TGC need mass market to succeed.

Lloyds = UK Ltd. SP = mood in UK Ltd (50%) + on-going PPI obligations (10%) + world wide economics (40%). In my opinion the current SP concludes a Brexit no-deal / possible extension of PPI / world wide effect of Trump trade war.

An agreed Brexit deal will see a significant uplift (70p target), combined with end of PPI (80P target) and ultimately end of Trump policies to get to the fabled 100P.

I'm topping up at these levels.

To help me understand the context of your posts Bibby88, can you please disclose your position on WMH. If you had no position you wouldn't bother posting here. I'm suspicious that you have a short position because your posts are consistent in advising that WMH should be sold. BTW I agree that all gambling stocks are being knocked for the reasons you outline - I therefore assume that you're posting similar observations on the GVC, 888 chat sections too.

It's funny isn't it. You can walk into any pub now and load a £20 note into a fruit machine setting the stake to £1, and lose it within 2 minutes - probably a few £100's in a session. Nobody there has to keep an eye on 'the punter'. Maybe I should get some shares in Wetherspoons? Also, bibby88, do you know the exact proportion of WMH profits that come via FOBTs? and off shore internet casinos?

The whole UK gambling sector is being sold - GVC down 8% today, 12% in a month
888 down 4% today, 21% in a month and WMH down 7% today and 23% in a month.
Apart from UK Govt bashing (banks and gambling seem to be their favourite targets) I'm not sure why there is such a large drop. I am long on these but like others starting to get spooked at the decline.

Overweight at 300 which is about the consensus - could be 30% upside at this low price.

I'm all for care in the community and when WGR forgets to take his meds we see these wonderfully bizarre rants that punctuate the serious posts raising the level of entertainment.
