RE: It feels primed to move ...30 Jan 2025 11:55
Its a binary play Mr I in relation to whether its safe/works or it doesn't. But in terms of probability of success that is not as straightforward as 50/50, which the phrase "binary play" tends to insinuate.
The main features of HEMO's development of the CAR T that make me feel like the chances are a lot higher of success include:
-the mice used in pre-clinical testing, with their highly advanced human immune systems, offer the most advanced pre-clinical data out there in terms of most closely replicating what they can expect from humans.
-we're not the first CAR T to be developed. Kymriah for Novartis went through FOAK testing last decade where they had to deal with reactions, risks and patient sickness for the first time without any prior knowledge of what to expect. Through ongoing development they designed and improved the CAR T treatment process and identified solutions to over-reactions in the human immune system like cytokine storms. We therefore benefit massively from this knowledge and prepped to deal with any patient reactions that might occur.
-The target of the inhibitor has been proved to work safely in another CAR T treatment although I cant recall the Pharmas name right now. I'll come back later to add these details or someone else might know. Basically, our CAR T "design" has been proven to work.
And I like how we are planning ahead. As Chris mentions expanding trials to include children would be magnificent and is high on the "next steps" plans for both Vlad and MD Anderson.
So to conclude, I make it much greater chance of success than a mere 50/50 play. I'm confident it will work and work safely.
