Hi Sophieben, I have nothing against short/medium or long term trader's or even a combination of both as you are. Might even take a leaf out of your book yet by trading RR albeit I'm not very good at it... everytime I buy it falls. Take yesterday for example, bought at over 88p for it to drop a penny although, today's little bounce is seeing me in profit on that little purchase. Wonders never cease then! Take on board your point regarding energy costs which are quite possibly the UK PLC's biggest headwind to profit. I agree that RR will be suffering the same pain so it'll be interesting to read their next financial update. Can't remember if that's February but perhaps someone might be able to confirm. I suspect many UK listed companies will refer to energy costs as a major barrier to profit so it'll be interesting to hear what RR do say. If RR's SP is suppressed in any way as a result of this particular headwind then maybe that'll be reflected when energy prices do fall?

Morning Sophieben, I rather suspect the alias Minvest to be a paid ramper. I don't know for sure but I do suspect it. Only he knows. Don't get me wrong, as a keen & active investor in RR I want Minvest's predictions to be/come true but the truth is no PI who regularly posts on this board knows how the market will swing one day from the next. I personally think RR will rise like the Phoenix I believe it is but it'll definitely need more time. While I'm more long termish (as I mentioned yesterday) investor I do think we need a series of positive RNS'S from RR to help ease it out of the 80's & 90's. I bought a further 1000 shares yesterday as a top up to my holding by the way.

I know someone that would gladly do that for him!

Apologies, I ought to have mentioned all stocks stored within an ISA tax wrapper. My ISA is a significant part of my retirement strategy if that makes sense.

****NAL: Not that long, around 8 months with the expectation of holding between 3 to 5 yrs as part of my (growth) retirement strategy. RR is the only growth stock in my portfolio as the rest are more inclined toward income.

By the way ****NAL, I've said it many times, I'm a longish term holder here as I am with all my investments. I don't do trading as I'm not very good at it. Does that make me a gambler? Yes, possibly so. But that then makes us ALL gamblers. There are safer, more homes for your hard earned.

Makes a BIG difference to my overall portfolio ****NAL so I do tend to follow it closely, yes. As an investor in RR I see it as an obligation. I've seen it too many times when a share has reached an all time high only for it to fall like a stone losing it's investors small fortunes. Boohoo and Simec Atlantis spring to mind. What gets me is this "beautiful" on the verge of huge increase incessant ramping of the share price when in fact it's going against the grain especially today.

I follow 30 companies on Google finance and at the time of writing and as expected following Jerome Powells Dovish speech late yesterday afternoon, I am viewing a sea of green interrupted by one red. Have a guess which?

Cheers for your quick response SlickMongoose. Thumbs up. As you say, more of an accounting change not alltogether unexpected. Read the extract and can confirm I read this also but didn't find it too contentious as the board are confident of delivering all numbers including dividends as per previous financial update. The drop certainly coincided with the RNS announcement but can't think why unless I'm missing something obvious or hidden in the detail. I'll re-read the RNS to be absolutely certain. Too coincidental to be anything else but RNS related. Had my finger over the "top up my holding" button at it's lowest. Will keep a watchful eye and any further drop and I'll use this as an opportunity to top up as per my retirement strategy that includes taking dividend payments.

There was a sudden & dramatic fall in share price about the same time as today's RNS was posted. I've taken a look at the RNS and can't find anything too contentious in there to warrant such a drop. Anybody got any ideas?
NB: the SP had been firmly in the blue up to that point.

General markets down quite a bit so far today with the China crisis being blamed. RR holding up quite well though which also bodes well.

... but not tomorrow: Expecting a significant drop due to all the anti lockdown riots/protests following a flat fire killing a number of Chinese people. China remains the only major economy to adopt a strict lickdown strategy. The government much too proud to admit they got it all wrong and now they're paying the price. The problem is, there's no price you can put on people's lives.
