The tragic war in Ukraine has its first anniversary in Feb, the year on year inflation comparisons will from then on fall significantly. This is because the steep oil and gas increases seen last Feb will already be included in the calculation. The big buyers know this so can with some confidence expect shares affected by high inflation to rally in the short term. The problem now is that mid to long term recessionary pressures may cause property prices to drop significantly. Suggest we are in the eye of the storm at the moment so hold onto your hats!!

I note that the Australian rate has just gone up but by less than expected and the FED are getting early indications from financial reports that the economy is slowing (JOLT figures as an example) the payroll data due on Friday may give them further reason to moderate rate rises.

The SP will go up if there is a verbal indication that the next rise will be smaller or that no further rises are anticipated, simples. Doveish vocabulary soothes the markets.

All this mornings sells except 1 could be from our big seller. They seem to split the deals into smaller parcels but they add up to the same multiples of 50k no matter how divided. I would love to know when they are going to run out or stop selling shares. Could be interesting this afternoon.

Usually mirror inflation don't they ? High interest rates (relative to recent past ) high inflation and higher house prices all go together has been the pattern in the past. I think ( to paraphrase) the reports of the death of housebuilding have been much exaggerated. In a month or two every broker will be pushing housebuilders.

Loads of recent buys ....SP has not budged, how frustrating is this!!

Good news from latest CPI print today looks the likely reason for SP climbing nicely this afternoon.

Can't see a 50,000 sell today, could be fun tomorrow.

In my opinion the SP is not acting strangely, the share holders are. Despite logic telling most of us to hold or buy this share some are selling and in enough volume to drop the SP. What we seem unable to fathom is who the seller(s) are and why they are selling. There is no conspiracy by MM's or anyone else simply more sells than buys causes a SP to fall, this is a fundamental principle of stock markets the world over. Patience required by all.

Peak view, not sure the SP has to rise, in a scenario where we have 2 sellers and 1 buyer the SP could go down. I have a funny feeling that is exactly what's happening.

Our usual problem isn't it. In the absence of good news there are not enough buys to counteract our persistent heavy sellers. So with good news share goes up, no news or bad news share goes down, essentially 2 out of 3 scenarios result in share price falling. As mentioned by several others the company seem reluctant to issue good news so during the periods of silence our share price falls. This seems to happen no matter the macro economic developments.

I would be interested in further info regarding the above, what proportion of African countries support Russia in UN votes ?
