Possibly not the best time to sell… if you had doubts surely you’d sell a few months back in the 260s? You look like another victim of a dip

LGEN divi like other companies who just have two divi dates a year is usually high and the share price volitile. If the company had quarterly divis I can guarantee the share price would be higher.

Bp always hold them in the treasury for a period of time and then they get cancelled!

Have you seen Bps share reduction over the last 4 years? It’s absolutely huge! Getting on for a 25% reduction so clearly they do not all go to Exec’s.

Congrats Badger, it’s a tough thing selling with a share like this. There’s still so much more potential but you never do know what’s around the corner….

I sold half of my BATS shares last week, I was happy with the profit and I’m happy for it to collect 4% in my IG account for awhile.

Everything seems pretty high at the moment and many are pushing each other up.

I bought a few Wizz early this year BOT, it’s my Gamble share although given the finances things certainly do not look as bad as the share price suggests!

Retirement… have you not got the spare cash to just re invest the divi you’ll get tomorrow instead of waiting a month? I did this early on in the year and it paid far better than re investing when the divi actually arrives.

It’s amazing how our minds work at times NN…luckily im one who doesn’t panic if a share drops and I’m happy to buy on the low points(like April this year on many shares)

However when shares rise too much I can’t deal with it, my finger hovers above the sell button(I’ll get quotes and sometimes not sell) I hate seeing a share rise like BATS did a few years ago and then dip lower than my original 2600 entry. I couldn’t stomach that again!

I was quite happy for this share to hover around 3000 and pick up a nice divi yield, now I’m just in a predicament I didn’t want(as stupid as that sounds)

Every broker rating seems to be pushing this up, ‘they want it higher’ Results have been good/solid but nothing ground breaking.

I thought the momentum would halt at around 3500 but looking at the thing now I’m not sure where the peak is, nothing would surprise me now.

So many shares right now are quite high id probably just leave this in IG which pays 4.25%(until Thursday at least) if I sold up.

The dollar potentially strengthening could move this up quite a bit!

Bp ADR is ‘only’ 21% down from 2023 highs.

Bp PLC is 30% down from recent highs in 2023! The weakening pound inflated our value a few years ago.

Looking at Carnival US(not adr) we’re still a bit below 2021 peak share price which blows my mind a little!

Until you highlighted it Bot I’ve never looked into the difference with the currency swings. Carnival lse is quite a bit ahead of 21s peak now.

This share price certainly doesn’t hang about, up or down..

I don’t wonder… total corruption as far I’m concerned! The share price clearly wasn’t dipping enough like some big players wanted it to

My goal here Ken is to stay until we’re in a good enough position to pay a divi again and evaluate. If we achieve that I’m sure the share price will take care of itself quite nicely :) I bought in post covid at 1100 and it’s already been a rollercoaster experience but with recent results I’m very chilled about it now.

Bhants.. I can’t help but feel there will be a lot of people who bought in from recent lows and will be selling so a little drop back is always inevitable. For me we’re in a much stronger position than early on in the year when we were at £20. Give it a time and hopefully we’ll surpass that. Although quite a negative day in general.

Botbot… why are you comparing the EPS between carnival and Royal Caribbean on a 1 - 1 basis? One company has 1.3bn shares the other 270m.

You say Carnival is 20% off Royals Q1 but surely you can see we have 5x the shares which means our EPS now is equivalent to Royals Q1. Still lagging slightly and Royal are in a better position just to add.

When looking at EPS it’s just a good tool to compare the companies past and future performance against itself!

The only time you can compare EPS with another company in a way you did is if you have the same shares which never is the case

Neversellshell… even if you decided a few days ago to invest in BP due to this conflict it would not make it wrong AT ALL! It’s just using your brain logically to make money! It’s certainly not blood money!

None of us can change anything here, as long as you don’t wish there’s mass destruction and death then invest at your will and make some money!

Buybacks always have an effect! It’s just the share price might not always reflect it as stocks go up/down depending on market conditions. However that buyback will ALWAYS help.

I read the same on the Bp chat as that’s fallen despite all the buybacks! The reality is the stock would be even lower without the 20 odd% reduction in shares in the last 5 years.

Short sighted people unfortunately fail to see it this way. They just moan buybacks don’t work if a share drops in price…

I’ve seen you post this about the buybacks quite a bit and I just want to ask you have you seen the shares in issue from 2021 to now?

2021 = 20.2 bn

2025 = 15.8 bn

And in March there was around 370m in the treasury, so unless Looney ran off with the other 4bn shares I’m pretty sure they were cancelled :)

My target is just a stable company, paying back dept and possibly paying that divi again :)

I’m sure the share price will look quite nice then too if we achieve that.

I bet you’re wishing you threw money at this again instead of whinging a week ago. The profit you would have made could have gone towards paying someone to paint the outside of your house…

You do realise BP ADR was 3.7% up on the rumour yesterday… it’s actually down today technically despite oil rebounding from the weekend crash.
