Sands, I put it pretty well all down to HUM. There have been ups and downs in the GP and in the sector which have not affected the share either way. I believe the BOD are wilfully allowing the SP to slide when they have the means to address it, eg say something! Divis or buybacks might help. Stupid unconnected adventures certainly won't.
Very disillusioned. Not even sure about anyone wanting to take them over now, although I wish they would. Dan and his crew won't lose out in any event of course, and it is this attitude that they are bomb-proof whatever they do that infuriates me most of all. It's my money they are squandering while they draw their massive salaries.
In a rather depressing way, it's nice not to be a lone voice any more (or rather one of a trio with BT and DB). The behaviour of the board, in both pursuing this random Idaho project, and in closing down already poor communications, is inexcusable. To a greater or lesser extent we've all been made suckers of by HUM.
On a lighter note, I see there is a newish poster on ADVFN with a slight North East twang, threatening violence and wishing to meet up with those opposed to his view mano a mano. Name of zeberdie. Ring any bells JohnyWaz, bonny lad, but?
We'll have to differ on the management. I am as contemptuous of them as they have proved themselves to be of their shareholders. Unsurprisingly, my e.mail to HUM expressing my disquiet at US venture has been ignored. Not hearing any feedback from others who I know also contacted them.
Further deathly silence from FSJ, who's only card now seems to be a petulant reiteration of the figures. Well, the figures aren't really relevant if the price drops through the floor, are they Frank?
Swindon41 post 23rd July following telecon with HUM, and others.
They are pulling our legs and will happily see us all lose our investment. Their salaries will still be paid.
Only hope a takeover knocks these arrogant people off their perch. All faith in current management gone as far as I'm concerned.
Weren't our experts anticipating an update from management on our little US adventure last week? Well, we can file that with the rest of HUM's great communication victories. Rapidly coming to the conclusion we are being treated with contempt by BOD intent only on feathering its own nest.
For the sake of playing straight, while I was putting that post on, sell price dropped. Find I could now sell 50,000 shares at 29.6 (nominally 29.5).
Still think ukgeorge's point worth consideration.
I hope ukgeorge on ADVFN will not mind my reposting his comments here. For the record, he is a regular poster, considered and even-handed.
"Can't even get a quote to sell 7,000 shares but can buy as many as you like at 30.25. Really does not bode well. There has been a spike in shorts on gold which is pretty worrying"
Thoughts anyone? Please try not to be abusive - it's a bit more important than that.
A four star review! Thanks Evsta.
Welcome back FSJ. Yes, I'd agree we have become quite close.
I take it JW that you are in touch with Frank, given your confidence in speaking for him.
So, having characterised anyone who disagreed with him as anal warts, paid derampers and non-holders, and having BT banned, now he chooses not to engage.
Of course, he's not just up against BT, DB and me now. Many who were pretty well on the same wavelength are now questioning the situation. But Frank has nothing to say. You are still responding in your usual vulgar and infantile way, but NG is another who appears to be hibernating. Maybe he can see his trip to the Eagle's Lair in a classic Jag evaporating, and is saving Sun holiday tokens for a Monday to Friday caravan break in Southend.
Anyway, maybe Frank is still reading the board, in which case I'd like him to know that what I said months ago about him being a company dupe seems to be the least of it. He's w proved to be spineless with it. He was quite free and easy with his contact details - I wouldn't want his fan mail if this does go wrong.
Just hanging on for a takeover now.
You have gone very quiet. Some pretty serious stuff being said here and on ADVFN. I would be genuinely interested hear your thoughts.
Lobon,
If you look at their website you will see we are in fact invested in "Hummingbird Resources - a multi-asset gold company". First line on the website.
Still plenty of people here prepared to justify the unjustifiable.
I'm pretty sure the market will give even less credit than it has in recent months while the management continues to behave as it is. I'm still unconvinced about Dugbe as I think it could be both a money pit and a political nightmare. Add to that the frankly bizarre decision to get involved in the Idaho thing and you've got the perfect recipe for II' s to head for the hills. Arrogant management making bad decisions.
I've written to Hummingbird, as others have already, to reiterate I signed up to a West African gold explorer/miner, not some hare brained conglomerate. Reminded them it's our money they're risking, and I don't want my money squandered either on an ego trip in Liberia or in the USA' s spud capital. For God's sake, what's the point in printing money in Yanfolila, just to p.ss it out of the window? It won't just be me asking that question either. As an aside, I've suggested HUM read this board, and ADVFN, if they want an insight into current PI thinking.
In English?
Pleased to see your native wit has not deserted you at this difficult time. Rain or shine, you maintain your level of repartee. It's a tribute to you both.
... from The Fun Boy Three (FSJ, JW, NG). No signal at Dan's villa?
Being offered 30.06 for 50,000 now. This stinks.
What say, FSJ?
Can't get a quote on HL to sell 50,000 shares.
A bit of uncertainty creeping in.
The Idaho thing is simply strange, and Dugbe has the potential to drag the whole edifice crashing down. Corruption, high costs and popular feeling against miners. Pride could end up costing us all dearly.
FSJ, I see that having got BT banned from here you are pursuing your vendetta on ADVFN. You wouldn't see any irony in your post there to the effect that everything is great after yesterday's news, and that all we need is for the share price to catch up? Honestly, we're not here to read endless "good news", we're here to make money. In the face of how things are going your position of "patience, patience" is becoming untenable.
I'm only here now in the hope of a takeover. If that doesn't happen I can see management's need to empire build in the nightmare that is Liberia, and expand into the US for reasons that don't seem to make any sense, and potentially expose us to major issues, throwing away all that went right in Yanfolila. There's a proven resource there but, instead of building on that, the BOD chooses to take us adventuring.
1. Predictable non-surge in SP. Most here buy the story but seems the market still doesn't. No doubt another trigger point for the long forecast re-rate will now be set by our experts here.
2. Another petulant response from Dan regarding Directors' shareholdings. What's he hiding? With a huge salary plus mega cheap options, he's clearly not bothered about the likes of us risking our hard earned when he doesn't have to. The comment that if he sold any shares he bought it might affect the SP is a side splitter. Presumably on that basis he'll protect us even further by confirming he'll never take up his options?
3. Zinc in Idaho? Less synergy than ego fuel. On two continents now!
