RE: DAB world sales13 Jun 2019 12:49
Following the launch of the findings, WorldDAB president, Patrick Hannon, commented: βThe last 12 months have been an exceptional period for DAB radio. The EU has adopted a directive requiring all new car radios to be capable of receiving digital terrestrial broadcasts; new markets such as France, Belgium and Austria are launching national DAB+ services and established markets including Germany, the UK, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Italy and Australia are reporting record levels of digital listening. In 2018, 10 million DAB receivers were sold worldwide. We expect this figure to be easily surpassed in the years aheadβ.
However FST's margins are being squeezed on DAB and they are aggressively cutting prices to maintain share. They have other strings to their bow tho and expect to return to positive ebitda in second half. I believe they should have enough cash to make it although no denying that this is a low point, but this too represents an opportunity for those who'll take the risk as expressed the recent big share taken by Science group. I'm sticking around...
