We are 2p below yesterday’s high because since then there has been more shares offered for sale than there are buyers to take them. There are plenty of shares on offer because those who bought them ~24p have seen a decent capital gain and picked up an 8.5% coupon whilst they waited.

If you really need to rationalise such in order to have a good w/e, then take comfort that whenever you eat/****/sleep over the next 48hrs you will be doing so whilst somewhere in N. York’s a hole is being dug, some foundations are being laid or some cables are being connected. All paid for with the shares that aren’t being traded because the market is closed.

Seemingly without any other significant reason, the working hypothesis is that the greater part of short activity is bond related. It is also surmised that the majority of converted bonds will ultimately be sold — for if bondholders were actually interested in taking a stake the company, it would have been easy to have bought equity at ST1.

As such, for every share associated with bonds that is forward sold via short activity now (with little discernible effect on price), that is one less share that may well be sold at a later date. And less shares for sale at a later date only serves to compound any share price rises when they occur.

No, it’s not just you, Roulette.

Given a binary choice between the cause being attributable to the share price approaching 40p and that Sirius can ‘sweep up’ any outstanding shares held by bondholders for ~40p (subject to prevailing Cable) in less than 4 months time, or, an article in a subscription only newspaper you can probably surmise the conclusion I’d draw.

But hey... I think Neil Armstrong did take ‘one small step for a man’ also.

Amongst the general indignation and nearly universal dismissal of the Dan McCrum article from yesterday, I’ve regrettably noticed that on more than one or two occasions, contributors in whom I place high regard would appear to have overstepped the line in respect of publishing potentially libelous remarks. And I would like to urge you caution. Not only are you doing a professional journalist wrong by casting aspersions you simply cannot substantiate, you are unnecessarily opening yourselves up to any recourse such a person may wish to take against you

Unlike nearly all of us here, the author of the piece has attributed his name to it, so there can be no doubt as to whom any insinuations, accusations or charges of wrongdoing are leveled. I have no desire to debate the content of the article, suffice to say the author may quite reasonably maintain that all information was provided in ‘good faith’. Just remind yourselves that whether you agree with him over certain matters or not is irrelevant. This gentleman makes his living with words and in no small part will rely on his reputation to do so. Anything you choose to publish online that he might perceive as a threat to that reputation and therefore his livelihood can very easily be made a screenshot of to be used later as he may see fit.

Do not be lulled into a false sense of security by any seeming anonymity. Such trivialities are very easily subpoenaed. In other words, tread carefully.

Sorry deepjoy, but if you truly believe the OP thought that they were posting something of value to this board then, imho, I think you are quite mistaken.

Your wish for good manners is quite commendable and, of course, being generous and civil with someone worthy is highly desirable, but you don’t thank the guy who’s just kicked sand in your face for helpfully demonstrating the vast array of shapes and colours contained therein do you? Whilst he’s technically correct that at around 60% on a contained K basis, MOP does indeed contain 4x the level of K as Polyhalite, I rather do hope he isn’t supplying the green revolution. Because as a chlorine sensitive crop, cannabis really would benefit from a chloride free nutrient source. And since it also requires reasonable amounts of sulphur, magnesium and calcium to boot, he really could do far, far worse than taking a look at the Zechstein’s finest.

Good morning, Townends. The allowance (or annual exempt amount as HMRC call it) for this tax year is £11,700. As such you can sell any amount for a capital gain up to this level. Once you cross this threshold you will have to pay capital gains tax on any other profits at your marginal rate. The HMRC pages on .gov will be able to help you further.

Morning, blacksheep. Firstly, well done on your opportune buy this morning - always good to see genuine holders in a position to take advantage. As for the above, how do you see it of any benefit to Chris in this instance to see the shareprice rise above the the level of his options? Rather than pay £4.37mn for his options, if you were him would you rather not pay £3.6mn in the market to acquire those 10mn shares now. I know I would!

Unless ST2 is formally announced prior, I think we’d be pretty safe to surmise that those options will in all likelihood lapse.

If it covered all the potential positives concerning this project you might well still be reading now! For my part, I wasn’t particularly perturbed by it it at all. The company and its agents are more than capable of spinning the positive line if they choose - something they have done to good effect over the years. And to be fair, since we have chosen a business plan and the financing route we have, by electing to seek recourse to the public purse via a Treasury guarantee, a free and independent press should be raising awkward questions if you ask me. Particularly so when taxpayers could be put on the hook for any potential failings by a commercial enterprise.

Don’t sweat it. If our company is all we believe it is then this will prove little more than a bump in the road. And if you’re in a position to make the most of the reactions to it, then good luck to you.

Well... I would hazard any trade that transacts after hours cannot contribute to price formation by virtue of its time. The 16:30 auction gives us a closing price and the 07:50 an opening price and the market per se cannot react without the auction process smoothing buy/sell demand.
