Interesting to see TopShops's revenue for final year 2016 was nearly £1bn. Makes me wonder what TopShop's revenue was at its highest and what year it was. Maybe you'll be able to find these.

The article has just appeared on the FT 30 minutes ago and it stated as follows:-

"Boohoo and Next have abandoned their efforts to acquire the Topshop brand out of administration after balking at the price demanded by the administrators of Sir Philip’s Arcadia retail empire."

Please note Boohoo have not confirmed this at all.

The strong interest in Topshop — some observers are now talking about a price tag of more than £300m — reflects the lingering affection in which it is held by some in the industry and also because it owns the freehold of a relatively new distribution centre in the UK’s East Midlands.

Based on prevailing valuations in the region, Savills, the estate agents, estimates the 440,000 sq ft facility could be worth at least £50m.

The market for such assets is buoyant and the facility could be sold and leased back, though Sir Philip’s wife Tina has security over it after lending Arcadia £50m in 2019.

Boohoo have yet to conform that they are no longer interested in buying the Arcadia Group.

Maybe Boohoo are bidding for the whole of the Arcadia Group, i.e. for the six brands, which are TopShop, TopMan, Miss Selfridge, Wallis, Dorothy Perkins and Burton.

Boohoo have already added six brands to their platform. They are Nasty Gal, Karen Millen, Coast, Oasis, Warehouse, MissPap.

What's to stop Boohoo from adding a further six brands by taking the time to get them right and starting with TopShop and TopMan.

These six brands would add a further £1.8bn to their revenue in time.

Boohoo are expected to earn £1.7bn in revenue for the year ending 28 February 2021. Buying all of Arcadia Group's six brands would double Boohoo's revenue in time.

Mudis - how do you know? My figures were for the Arcadia Group for 2018 and for £1.8bn. Your figures were for 2019 and only for TopShop for £850m.

So, please go and do the research to find out the figures for 2018 before trying to correct me. It is well known that TopShop were the biggest earner for the Arcadia Group.

Mudis - it also sounds to me from your comment that you only discovered for yourself today the meaning of wholesale, So my advice to research did help you.

As it also did with looking up the profits for TopShop which sounded from your comment that you hadn't done this prior to today.

However, it does help to read comments on here more than once, so you don't jump to the wrong conclusions, like you did about my comment on the Arcadia Group's revenue for 2018 which was £1.8bn.

Research is good advice because if you don't do any research, then you'r likely to lose money in shares. It sounds to me like those who don't like me to use the words read and research may be the ones who don't do enough reading and research themselves. For me, these type of people love to score points which says more about them as people than it does about me.

ragtrade/mudis - it sounds like wholesale is the new word for selling your products through third parties as well as selling them yourself.

I love to learn and I've learnt something new today. I hope others have too.

ragtrade - there may have been others on here who misunderstood your use of the word wholesale too. I certainly did, so no doubt others may have too.

For me what you call wholesale, I call selling your products through third parties as well as selling the products yourself.

Wholesale for me is when you sell your products through third parties only and don't sell them direct from yourself.

So your definition of wholesale is selling your items through third parties, like, Next, Amazon, Asos. For me, that's called selling through third parties. However, that's what you mean by wholesale. Now, I'm with you.

That's such a small percentage of Boohoo's revenue, something like 1%. The reason Boohoo do this is more to do with advertising rather than selling. It's more about attracting customers from other websites to theirs. It's more about marketing and advertising your products.

Mudis - Boohoo have already sold items for Boohoo, BoohooMan, Prettylittlething, through others like Asos, Amazon, Next, etc.. They've already done this and will, no doubt, continue to do it for TopShop.
