The Sheffield Automation is for sales as in the start up costs for the UK Distribution Centre.

Companies put items into Exceptional Items/Charges/Costs because it makes their performance look better than it is.

This is what Boohoo has done in their recent accounts by putting nearly £45m into exceptional items.

For me, Boohoo will never list on the USA Market nor on any FTSE market other than AIM.

I think there's too much scrutiny on these markets that sadly are not on the AIM Market.

Hence why I believe Boohoo will remain on the AIM Market only.

T4g - it's about including them in the cost of sales figures so by putting them in exceptional items you don't have to include them in the cost of sales figures. This means your loss is less than what it should be.

When items are put into exceptional costs then the company don't have to consider putting them into cost of goods sale (cogs).

The reason companies put these items into exceptional charges is to exclude them completely from cogs and then for Boohoo their loss doesn't look as bad as it should.

The Sheffield automation and the USA start up costs and possibly currency hedging could be included in cost of goods sale (cogs) which means Boohoo's loss would be much higher than £91m.

WolfofWarks - exactly so whatever you put in exceptional costs is automatically left out of profit/loss. This is why companies put items into exceptional costs so they're excluded from profit/loss. This means the loss is not as high as it should be.

Even the Financial Reporting Council are worried about what companies put in exceptional charges.

I’m concerned by the recent final results of Boohoo plc and what they have put into exceptional charges on these accounts.

It worries me that the auditors have allowed these to go through too.

Boohoo plc had a loss of nearly £91m and exceptional charges of nearly £45m which should really stand as a total loss of £136m or at least much more than £91m loss.

In the exceptional charges were items that I think should have been put into capital expenditure, capex.

By not doing this Boohoo plc have made their accounts look better than it would have been if some or all of these exceptional charges had been put into capex.

Exceptional charges included the automation of the Sheffield Distribtion Centre and the Start up costs for the USA Distribution Centre as well as things like currency hedges.

Private Investors need total transparency and not items under exceptional charges so they won’t affect the company's loss and make Boohoo plc’s accounts look better than they should have been.

Boohoo was the cheapest online fast fashion in the world.

This is now Shein.

Boohoo might be a bit profitable again one day but nothing like it could have been without Shein appearing.

Shein has decimated Boohoo and will continue to decimate them.
