Nothing to do with Boohoo sellers who weren't impressed with the ASOS trading update yesterday.

Shein's rich backers are Capital, General Atlantic and the U.A.E. sovereign-wealth fund Mubadala. Both Sequoia and General Atlantic invested in previous Shein funding rounds. Investors in the last Shein round were allotted more shares in the company to maintain the size of their stakes, the people added.

BB - They already have. Unfortunately, people still buy from Shein and no doubt, will continue to buy from them.

Plus Shein have extremely rich backers too.

It's obvious ASOS think BRC data works better for them. ASOS don't quote ONS at all.

There has been and still is talk of ASOS going bust. When it comes to investing in shares, it's crucial to consider the possibility of it going bust. It focuses your mind.

T4g - wage inflation is now causing job losses, so no job means no money to spend on clothes.

Unemployment is rising.

As far as I'm aware ONS don't provide this kind of detail for 16-35 year old decline in spending on clothes.

I think if ASOS are providing this info in their trading update then ASOS are using it.

Sharefall - Boohoo have a revolving credit facility of £325m, so it will depend how much they've actually used of this with regard to debt.

I'm not so sure about the forward outlook for inflation. From what I've read inflation is going to last for longer which means interest rates will have to remain higher for longer too.

There's even talk about interest rates going to 7% in the US. Nobody really know for sure what the future holds.

Cost of living is still affecting people, petrol prices high, heating high coming into the winter. Forecasts of oil going to $120 a barrel.

BB - if you'd looked at my past posts you'll see why I don't post on the boards of shares I'm invested in. The shares I pick are high risk and I don't want anyone following me into them and losing money. I've only mentioned them on this board because WeeWee kept pressing me more and more for them.

I've mentioned plexus holdings on here a number of times before today and tullow and pantheon resources. I've sold tullow and pantheon and held onto plexus holdings.

I invest about £150,000 in one share. I only invest in up to 4 shares at a time so I can watch them closely. When I buy them if they go down 7% from my buying price then I sell them and move on. When I buy them and they go up and then go down 7% from their highest price, then I sell them. I don't always stick rigidly to this. I look at lots of things to determine whether or not to hold a little longer.

I go into a share with a small amount of money to start, so if the share price goes down 7% then I don't lose too much money. Then I add more and more each day until I reach my target of £150,000 for one share.

Plexus Holdings have gone up nearly 33% today. I'm so sorry, I do wish this had happened for your Boohoo and ASOS shares too.

West6809 - it all depends on how much it costs and how much you make.

Of course Martin Smith, a strategy director at a marketing agency will say all that. He's trying to sell this concept to business.

If Boohoo was such a wonderful business then there would be loads of investors.

The reality is that investors see Boohoo as a failing business and are not interested in buying Boohoo shares. This is why the share price is 32p.

Just because you believe in Boohoo doesn't make it a wonderful business to many other investors.

T4g - you don't know if Boohoo has met their guidance or not. They may have needed to spend more. Investors think round every little detail. They don't take a company's guidance as reality.

Hence why there are few buyers for Boohoo shares. They don't believe in Boohoo the way some holders on here believe in Boohoo. That's the reality, whether you like it or not.

No-one with any sense buys before a trading update. Sensible buyers wait and study the trading update before committing money to a share.
