@bigbench.... we seem to be dithering in the UK.. Im getting t o the point where I dont want to read the news...

the solution is so simple... imo... the giv needs to get its head out of the sand, and get as many co's who are making test kits into production and get them out there and in the hands of people who need them.

our gov seems to adopot such a wait and see stance.. any bloody longer and cummings will get what he first mooted.. herd immunity test with a loss of everyone over the age of 70/those with underlying health conditions.

how much more battering does the gov want people to sustain... get on the dog to D order the bleeding lot and get them out there....

'Speed is really of the essence' with testing and tracing

Dr Adam Kucharski, of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, told the House of Lords Science and Technology Committee that “speed is really of the essence” with regards to the test and trace strategy.

“The nature of the evidence we have on transmission is that by the time someone shows symptoms, they have probably been infectious for a day or two already,” he said.

“So that means by the time someone has symptoms, reports as a case, their contacts have potentially already been infected, and those people may themselves become infectious three or four further down, so really very soon after.

“So I think that what that shows is that for these test and trace, these targeted measures to work, speed is really of the essence.

“Because as soon as somebody becomes symptomatic, you have a very short time window before their contacts may become infectious, and then you’ve got another generation of transmission to deal with.”

Hmmmm........ still keeping it quiet...... must be someone important, that would change the sp, if known...

overnight I was thinking that maybe it would have been good if DB had shown a sample of the kit and the beads to the news.. i guess in diff circumstances the interviews would have been on site with demonstrations.

i still feel he did a great job, and to get sky news through the door is a big coup for the co/brand/product, and Im hoping that once orders come in he will get sky et-al in for a follow up... they normally do if its something they reported first and its turned out good - based on my own experience with media.

@bigbemch... ditto... and given the simplicity, which always wins... markets where there is low cost state input into medical etc.. will take up the easiest diagnostics test with the highest accuracy esp one that can be stored across the temperature spectrum.

DB didnt say a great deal about the usa side of it.. looking for a distributor... cytvia will have plenty on their books imo.
the firms he mentioned in south east asia, one of them was a 12 or 13 billion co... from what i remember.

Great interview, esp the diff between gdr and other covid tests.

Its so simple a kit to administer why bother with anyone else's test kits, it cn be shipped by existing logistic.
