AntHarry I follow a number of middle eastern oil correspondents on twitter, TASS and Reuters etc. They get the inside usually. They are saying 3 OPEC sources are confirming that cuts have been agreed for 3 months starting in May. Some are saying the opec countries have gone further than they wanted to and others are saying it’s still incumbent on the US joining. Search the #OOTT hashtag on twitter. It’s all there. It will probably be published by the news agencies soon if the correspondents have it now.

Reports everywhere that Opec are discussing bigger than envisaged cuts to stabilize the markets but for an initial 3 month period starting in May.

If oil spikes on US trading then in Asia early a.m. it will be a bloodbath trying to get in here. Already rumours of deals coming out. If the oil markets go up further to $40 tonight on a sniff of cuts then this could gap up tomorrow. Shorts still got to close and will be getting more and more nervous as they see the SP holding up. Got cash on account tonaverage down on any weakness this afternoon. GLA.

No. I disagree. The OPEC talks are in progress now. All noises I’m reading indicate KSA and Russia are coming to agreement. This will be finalized in a virtual meeting with other opec members on Thursday.
It was incumbent on USA agreeing to cuts also but USA can’t be seen to be making deals with opec as it’s an illegal cartel.
Trump has organized another virtual meeting for Friday which is a meeting of the G20 oil producing nations: USA, Canada, Norway, France, Germany, maybe UK and who knows who else. After Opec agreement the other nations will also agree to cuts and it will be done and announced. This way the USA and others say their deal is a G20 agreement to address the Covid 19 drop in demand problem and is not an illegal cartel stitch up with Opec.
That is mostly fact gleaned from news reports and some of my own opinion regarding the motivations but in my opinion that is why it’s not as simple as just a Thursday meeting but it is not the case that the opec meeting is complex and will drag on. I’m not reading that. There’s more players involved, that’s why. More players = bigger cuts. DYOR.

Shpunken you might be surprised today. I was trading it too and I was out yesterday afternoon with a good profit. Hell of a fight to get back in this morning. I’ll be holding it now through until next week. Too risky to be out. It could move up and away at any time and this deal looks like happening IMO.

It’s just a waiting game now. Everything’s been said. The deal looks nailed on. Longs will be holding for oil price recovery on a deal, shorts need to buy to close. There’s s bit of a stalemate at the moment. Shorts need to accumulate from here. I was trading it since Friday but I’m just holding now. Bought more this morning at around mid 27’s which is currently about flat. I see this mid to high 30s by Thursday afternoon or higher. I agree with Degsy. Shorrs must close. Too risky to leave open with the biggest Opec merting in decades on over the weekend and it looks at least 70/30 in favor of a deal going ahead in my opinion. Risk/Reward firmly in favour of the Bulls.

Dodged a bullet there. I had £30k in PMO up until about 2pm yesterday afternoon. An especially bad time to lose cash, worse than normal. Might be some remnants of cash coming in here. 88E got a bad rep for dusters though, that’s 4. Good luck to all 88E and PMO holders in making their money back elsewhere. Lots of opportunities.

If we get some more placating statements from the Saudis and Russians and bullish chatter coming out of CNBC, Bloomberg, Reuters etc regarding a deal then I reckon Brent could break $35 by Thursday in anticipation of a deal. If so I see the tlw sp closing at 29p on Thursday then could go anywhere on Tuesday depending what is announced. Only my take on it. GLA. DYOR.
