So why join the EU with their track record and joining NATO which has already been alluded to as being obsolete.

What of the 1980s statement NATO would not expand eastwards and now it has ended up on the Russian border. Strategically speaking Russia are not going to allow Ukraine into Nato due to its flat land giving an access for a land army to enter Russia, they will push back. This statement is not being immature or traitorous to the Sovereignty of the British people. I doubt Russia will push into former Eastern Bloc countries as this was a Communist ideology of that era. Instead these countries have been absorbed into another form of Dictatorship, the EU. I doubt Russia will push further than the Dnieper River, if they even go that far.
