If I was a shorter I would have gotten out in Thursday's price dive... they may have helped the rapid and slight over correction on Friday.

I'm not sure where you're getting your logic from Noah... from what I see total shorts are around 2%, which is a marginal increase over the last week.

Considering a rise in SP of well over 100% in a month, this to me make sense that there's also an increase in short positions!

Well that was a bit SHORT sighted.... they would have made an absolute killing holding off to mid May before closing their short!

Indeed... I regularly create work for a certain regiment in Hereford but I can't talk about them by name ha!
I will warn you that the modelling processes I employ are time intensive to get the accuracy, and I work with the best bronze foundry in the world, so not cheap.... but sharing costs across an edition series may make it viable.

I'm thinking the same..... on Friday I took a proportions out of my AML holding as saw Dow plummeting again - but it closed pointing in the right direction at least. I've not yet decided to buy back first thing Monday, or wait for the usual dip through the middle of the day....

The advantage may be to Mercedes... is that AML are exempt from some of the more severe emissions restrictions being phased in, being a low volume sports car manufacturer.

I've had a look for 20 minutes and can't find anything to confirm this - but if AML/Mercedes were to develop under the Aston name an engine outside of the EU regs.... could Mercedes plonk that engine in a few of their cars?

OR thinking about it now.... if Mercedes were to buy AML as their performance arm as many of us have been suspecting on here for a while, and badge as Aston AMG or something.... that most likely would enable them to offer performance cars outside of some of the EU regs. Thats a huge advantage!

That's exactly my point @Bsinkers, that everything right now is on sentiment and ona tipping point. It will take not very much of either to fall off a cliff again - we saw just last Thursday how fast 10%+ can evaporate. Certainly faster than most of us retail traders can deal to get out of trouble.

Yup... the notion that AML will use their own engines and phase out Mercedes I think is well and truly over. And thats a good thing IMO. Aston/Mercedes likely looking at the business model efficiency of Lambo/Audi.... so much technology, platform, drivetrain sharing between them - massively more cost efficient than individually designed systems.

Plug Mercedes tech into Aston chassis' is the best route for profitability, clearly.

Still feels a strange way to earn a living.... never worked so hard in my life, nor thought I could enjoy it as much! Definitely not missing the usual travel right now, loving being just holed up in the studio.

I think that's a bit naive @Bsinkers..... being invested you need to be a realist - too much blind positivity and the big boys will take the shirt off your back with zero notice.

I'd pay literally zero notice to that, it doesn't make sense to me. And it doesn't put a time scale on the increase.

I believe there will be a global pull back as the real effects of Covid shutdowns become apparent.... no-one knows yet. But I think the market has been way too bullish in recent weeks. What we saw last week was panic as soon as someone coughed... shows howon a knife edge everything is right now.

We will see a pull back in the FTSE as business try to get back to operating normally, as the furlough scheme runs out and business realise that they can't survive. Any notion of a second Covid wave in the UK and the markets will dive. Many SP's can't fall back too far as many are still at historical lows already. But I think we need to be cautious... IMO.

Just an idea.... wouldn't a Facebook group work better....?
