Unless you see a very poor UK outlook with prolonged low interest rates and falling dividends I can see little to offer in these shares -unless there is a special dividend coming at the interim. On this years profits can see no reason for one and I would not bank on one following a severe winter. However some might see it differently and simply see it as a poorer performance that it might recover from ?

Admittedly one has anxieties if one holds a lot of these -I only have a few. However the strengthening YEN most against the euro gives a price advantage compared with previously to exports including sterling exports also compared with any $ priced products. Deflation in Japan means thathat their older population has more money to spend not less.

Towards 157p but that far may be severe !

Has beved very stesdily -with that yield concede with the kind of assets it has that will benefit from future inflation-whilst looking tp add on any weakness am reluctant to sell it.

Yielding only 3% now -rather diversifying recently into some non core activity . Suggest a retrace toward 257p will restore yield and make good re-entry point.

Aweakening euro contra $ may be helpful to this company -also with the yen rising against the $. I have a small holding only as of 57p and wish I had sold at 68p and repurchased them but I am hanging on to them because there is nothing for me to gain by selling them now

A strengthening £ recently v euro does not help this company - I am hoping for further cheaper buying opportunities!

Might this be the final value offered ? I woud not mind some GDF SUEZ shares particularly if they are buying this company. Sad to lose it from my portfolio with the good growth and divi.

China -in my post should read Japan -I had been watching a bloomberg report on the solar industry after the German announcement that a further cut in the subsidy is planned for April . This report actually was highligthing an American company that exported to China. Due to the stimulus cuts in China and possible opposite policies in Japan this German move might not be unhelpful to PVCS.

The reason for the drop jn this stock is connected with the announcement that the German Govt is cutting the subsidy by 18% to solar companies. This has caused a fall in all solar stocks but my understanding that the effect is on German installers and that this particular company along with one or two others that sell substantially to China is less affected and might outperform in relation to the others

28.10.09 showed slight decine jn total profits but a commitment to the 50% payout in dividend in cash tems same as 2008. Abbey National results of same day very buoyant indeed and these contributed very posively to the parent bank representing 16% of revenues and cancelling out a lot of the weaker Latin American returns. Ex date for the quarter pending -some recent selling of Banco Santandar and it could well continue for a while bearing in mind the strong rise recently -but it remains a strong well run bank for the future. Will give confidence to holders of the popular ANLA (and ANLB not so good as the A's but OK ).preference shares. PB

Opinion -WAIT ! I may be wrong but I remember the day when BP hit 375p. I can see far better reasons why this one should and might but believe me I am waiting and will be in there when it does. You need plenty of space with this -if the Ofwat final is not so bad it will not be generous and its how many years to the next Ofwat determination. This share seems to have sufered by speculators playing with it. Low UK inflationwill not elp its indexed earnings and whilst weak sterling enhances German revenues it will be less enhancing when sterling eventually recovers. This company will not be in any hurry to raise the dividend at present levels but the NAV gives plenty of scope for growth from a a fully retraced SP in future years and posibility of takeover by a German operator.

Why so exhorbitant good stock but very wary because euro probably overvalued v sterling at this spread !

Missed them ex divi -got another chance today. Maybe EON EDF RWE IBE feeling a chill from UK earnings with weak £ but maybe that will encourage them to increase prices which is good for LSE. Having said that bought surprisingly few - always hoping they might all out of bed and drop 100 points -after all they came up a lot in last cycle even if have fallen back quite a bit. If never get more any cheaperhow could I complainwith a decent divi ?

The Dhaka price has not moved very much-it is after all not as big a company as Square Pharma which has an SP many times higher. and has recetly been approved to market in the UK. I do not wish to run this company down but it is part of a bigger conglomerate and I think it is correct to be enquiring when they are raising funds by diluting the share holding. Also the fact that the GDR's are not involved suggests to me that they are just cash cows. I have closed mind about very little and any further information would be very welcome !
