The latest Investing Matters Podcast episode featuring Jeremy Skillington, CEO of Poolbeg Pharma has just been released. Listen here.
I hope you are not expecting a medal upside mop for acknowledging when you did like everybody else that debs had become a risky share. You would only be worthy of special plaudits had you arrived with your warnings here 3 to 5 years ago or say predicted that ig shares could dip around 50% in value in the past year. It is a useless piece of info at the moment but some brokers are mentioning possible distribution to shareholders at some future date just to be totally honest.
So the court action some posters said would not materialise is on and same posters have since been prejudging the outcome. Saw the recent debt figures from Ireland look woeful. Surprised the remaining board members are not out on their ears by now. Hard to believe anybody could have done a worse job than they did and not too much of a stretch of the imagination to think MA could have done so much better.
What's with all the playground stuff on the bb. Why do all these trading billionaires always appear on the scene too late with their views and their bragging - obviously not away somewhere nice soaking up the sun and enjoying life lol.
Well daniel I guess all the noise by posters with British place names but American spell checkers are failing to convince some of us with their arguments and I guess it has something to do with there being no shortage of funds to keep the likes of Duddy on on an inflated salary and the company still operating on line and in store. If this is not a plc calibre company then why the need for all the hangers- on like David Adams to be dipping his beak in the trough still. It looks like every company he has been involved with has gone bust. I have never seen such strenuous efforts on a bb to try to convince readers that this company doesn't have a case to answer. It certainly seemed to be viewed in a bad light by some prior to admin why not now?
Happychappy spd and Mike Ashley actually have had a lot of success in the courts on various matters over the years.. They clearly have top class legal advisers. In actual fact, spd put forward several detailed suggestions to the Debenhams bod which they rejected without giving the shareholders a chance to vote. It is also possible that if the takeover code timetable had been adhered to that a formal bid would have been forthcoming. At the end of the day, some of the same incompetents who ran this company into the ground in a short space of time are still in post. I'm with the writers of various articles out there which say that it would take a rare retail genius like Ashley to turn deb's around.
It to me looks as if big Mike wasn't loaning out shares to Odey after all and with the amount of the short it looks to me as if it might have been the Landmark Mickey.
daniel.f shareholders including spd were robbed as this company is still operating with a internet sales site and all stores still open. A pre-pack administration was not the only option open here and Mike Ashely should have been given the time stated in the takeover code to make a full bid and his other offers weren't given full or fair consideration. A shareholder is robbed when a bod are economical with truth in their rnses. Cheshire was the only honourable one here and Duddy should stand down immediately. Mike was right lie detector tests should have been taken by the lot of them. I hope other shareholders back Mike in getting the fca to conduct a full investigation and nobody posting on here should be predicting or prejudging what might come of any legal actions raised.
I would suggest to you DC2007 that one of the reasons this bb is still so busy is that nobody is sure what MA's next move is likely to be. Sergio spent more on shares than you have quoted but sports direct spent more than anybody else.
As I understand it, spd's lawyers are accusing the administrators of having had a conflict of interest and they have refuted the allegations though some previous case law has been quoted to them. Also as I understand it, spd have called for a full investigation of what happened here to be conducted by the fca and the feeling is that some obscure American hedge funds stole this company and the administrators are not genuinely conducting a sale. Odey although profiting from a short went long to the tune of 5%. but I guess you mean the boat can only be properly rocked by launching a legal action. From what I know of other matters, spd are not shy about taking legal action so the jitters for some of the bodies involved in this "national scandal" are not over yet.
Action from Ashley would speak a lot louder than words and, as with the bid that never materialised, time is of the essence.
I can't see Debenhams ever refloating as the name is mud now. I don't live in mainland Britain but Isle of Man. Our High Street consists of a few shops such as M& S, sports direct, flannels, next and W H smith. On the mainland last week, an elderly woman carrying a Debenhams bag came rapping on my car window saying something about my car width taking up two parking bays when she saw I needed door clearance for somebody in a wheel chair. If old bats like that were their customer base then even Magic Mike would have had his work cut out.
He has been compensated for some of his share buying - one not that long ago- sending out a buy signal to investors at 8p. codey taking a 5% stake alongside their short would also have been seen by many as a buy signal.
Let's see if any statement is issued by the Takeover Panel about the events and some case law has been quoted by the lawyers of spd so might still be some fireworks to come.
Tax exiles see flights to Heathrow resumed by flybe according to IoM Courier. I suppose there is no point in being rich though if you are pot ugly. Anybody think Chris Evans has aged since his pay at the beeb was leaked. Looks like mythical god Manannan these days. Guess nobody has transferred over with him to Virgin and people are listening to Zoe. One player never bigger than the team. Good luck to anybody who caught the 22p or thereabouts in the farce that was flyb this year.
