Fizzy drinks maker Britvic’s chief executive and finance director have taken up shares and sold the share options for a second day running. The latest sales are of shares acquired under the Britvic Performance Share Plan at no cost. Chief executive Paul Moody was awarded 84,694 shares and sold 34,725 shares at 375p each in order to raise just over £130,000. Finance director John Gibney sold 22,174 shares out of the 54,082 shares he was awarded, thereby raising £83,000.

“Tui Travel posts its preliminary results on Tuesday. The company is set to report a strong set of results, however underlying performance could prove altogether weaker. Although western Europe has held up seemingly well, TUI Travel ran into a tough trading environment in Canada and the Nordics. Looking ahead, investors will be keen to learn how the company's summer bookings have fared, although there is a fear that rising unemployment and weak sterling could have a bigger-than-expected impact.”

The broker commented that weak comparables should mean B&Q will show strong performance while Castorama and Brico Depot will benefit from increased consumer confidence in France. It believes that further upgrades are likely for Kingfisher "given the strength in retail sales seen elsewhere in the sector and the robustness of consumer demand". However, growth next year will be "harder to come by" as a result of tough comparables due to Summer 2009 being "perfect DIY weather" and the "turnaround of China will become more important". Shore kept its 'sell' stance. The shares rose by 5p to 247p.

"Currys and PC World owner DSG International reported a drop in first half like for like sales but said it has seen improving trends in a number of its businesses, particularly in recent weeks.
