If and when UK excludes the french fisherman and if they stop them on the high sea I believe the fisherman will block any cross ferry ports in france from access by the ships. We have all seen in the past how militant the French are, they blocked the same ports some years back over vegatables,

Agree, unless Boris backs down the deal is dead. France and Germany will not move. Even the interim offer of 1 year transition includes fisheries and Level Playing Field. There will be no deal unless some thing is given by UK. Even at that there are a lot of smaller countries with axes to grind, and they all hold a veto.

I would be concerned that everyday essentials would be low margin Items. Or am i not getting it.

While Ireland needs a deal very much, Fishing is a even bigger deal in Ireland. The amount of industry based outside the larger city s is quiet dependent on it. I have always seen it as a major item. Spain would be the same , maybe to a lesser extent

I totaly agree Ireland more than anyone wants a deal. however the Government will not throw Fisheries under the bus.
They are already in big trouble over the centralization of jobs in the bigger cities. To accept killing off fisheries would be unpalatable.
The speech by the chancelor yesterday was his way, in my opinion, of washing his hands of Brexit. If he takes over from Boris he can say I told you all this turmoil would happen before Brexit.

I will stick my kneck out. I do not see a deal being done. Only way it will happen is if Boris gives in on Fisheries and
equal trade support for business. The French will not back down, too arrogant, the Irish cannot give in on fisheries. , it would destroy the industry in Ireland. A lot of untill now very quite minor European Countries will use their veto in a belief a Deal will damage their citizens living in UK.
Hope i am wrong as no deal will damage my own business quiet a bit.

I know an American that is soon to be out of a job, he could maby give Boris some lessons on public speaking.
