Agreed Sea, i suppose maybe there's a prestige thing about being in the higher indexes but i can't see it influencing the SP too much. 110 would be back to shorters swarming the place which we all recall. I'm in quite heavy on BP too & that SP seems to be buzzing about OPEC stuff tomoz. I'm sure if that's positive news this will be up. Needs to break that 135 stubborn level then we'll see a good rise here!

a fall to 110??? based on what? dropping from an index. No way will a stock lose 15% based on that. OPEC talks tomorrow i think we would see a rise here if anything!

Thom, is right. I been in on this share since October lows with a quite large investment. I was in in prior to that in May/June time last year as well. BP will not make big gains overnight & for sure i have seen some big winners sail past me while i've held these. I bought in at 200. they been up over 311, back down to 252. Allsorts really. The appeal for me here is this is a safe haven for your money. I will get a 8% yield on my investment & capital growth for a long term hold. The current SP is still at a low not seen since 1996 pre C19. My advice is for quick profits, look at other shares. For long term sound returns & capital growth you can't go far wrong with BP. Yes SD, Price/book is always one of the first things i look at before investing anywhere. It's not foolproof. e.g. intangibles are just that-intangible. Highlights where a clear correction is due in my experience!

Be nice if a couple of them dropped in an RNS!

yes Bladey, was my thoughts yesterday. nice top up @126. If it drops back down again, i don't care too much. Risk of maybe at worst 25% downside against 200%+ upside here. the fundamentals of this business are so well sound. Price/book is ridiculous!

Boyo, ok i see. Surely though the deferral of sentencing stuff seems to indicate the US ruling of admissability of evidence casts the whole case into doubt!

A good bit happening next couple days. Budget tomoz, OPEC Thursday, Who knows: RNS-SFO case closed Friday LOL. Gotta be in this one to win. I'm staying here till that SFO nonsense is dusted. I think the odds there are well stacked in PFC's favour too since the US ruling about evidence being inadmissable!

In the near term the only thing that can happen re SFO will be good news. i.e. case closed/not enough evidence etc. Any bad news would be protracted over years i.e. charges against PFC. Anything like that would just drag on for years. Lets face it the SFO stuff was all known in October/Nov, vaccines hit & this zoomed up into the 170s. I really never understood the dip to be honest as it was nothing new to the investigation at all!

I think the whole SFO thing has blinded people a bit to how undervalued tis share is. IMO the dips after 15th January were really a bit unrealistic & fair play if you got in near the bottom there. But we all know it was market manipulation by the shorts. Who knows they may come back to haunt us again but as far as i see it this share is cheap as chips & it can only be a matter of when not if a huge rerate is around the corner!

i've added a big chunk here @126.8. Might have been better waiting but FOMO i suppose. To me this seems one of the best value around & sure for a big boost at some stage soon!

difficult to call with OPEC. Always a few renegade members keen to fire up production. Shoot themselves in the foot though if they flood the market. I think looking at the SP today seems to reflect that. Cautious, hasn't fallen as much as you might expect given oil has come down quite a bit last few days!

IMO they'll keep supply down but impossible to call really. If they increase will surely be limited. No point is just supplying more oil at lower price as just get same revenue for more output. A big tap turn on catalyst is aviation kicking off properly again which is still a while away yet!

OP down. It's about OPEC Thursday meeting. If outcome is continued supply restraint we should see a good rally here if taps turned on will see a dip. The spike last June up to 370 was off the back of an OPEC meeting so i'm feeling optimistic!

Barclays smart investor. Costs about £40pa for the ISA i think. Probably not the cheapest i know. They're not the cheapest trading platform either but IMO always give the best market prices & only rarely unable to trade unlike other platforms!

Everyone has their own strategies on it. Personally i tend to put high yielding stocks in the ISA to shelter the dividend from tax. A friend of mine invests a lot in risky AIM stocks in fairly small amounts but all through the ISA so if one them stocks goes through the roof he pays no CGT on the gains.

you only get the tax benefit of £20k per annum per person. Always better to have a new ISA each tax year as you can just leave them & any profits or dividends is free from tax
