ryan, nothing wrong with day trading & i considered a top slice yesterday around 307. For me though when there is considerable momentum in the wider markets i feel you risk missing the boat when the boom starts. Nothing wrong either way but in my experience better gains to be made from a patient hold unless something fundamentally change with the share you hold. External factors (bond yields; exchange rates etc) will always knock a share back & forth a bit!

today is a retrace after a couple of rallies. It isn't a correction. Sentiment is poor & Friday always a bit of a sell off & weak trading day. Chance of this breaching the 280 support levels are now highly unlikely IMO. The 250/260 levels were when there was still the uncertainty about economic reopenings. Unless more bad news to come i think the upward momentum should continue.

i remember thinking that last June & cashed @328. It promptly careered up to 370. Truth is you never know! LTH is best policy here. 1996 prices, can't go wrong. If you want to day trade best of luck but long term is least stressful. I been in here since 200 so not worried. This will keep going north with intraday dips.

Strong £ is core reason holding this back now. This was 350 yesterday in Sept/Oct money. Looks like £ starting to tumble now though & should fall further when Sunak gives nightmare budget stuff. POO fallen a bit too. Just sentiment really, should be back well above 3 early doors next week!

what resistance are folks talking about? these levels have never been a historic resistance zone. Bit of profit taking etc going on at the moment that's all. bit of patience. don't forget this has risen nearly 60 in just a couple of weeks. Give it a chance!

Amazing that NEX went from nearly £5 to 66p in days. I think there was a rumour circling that it was going down the pan & they had to RNS to say they were safe for a while!

God, the memories. I literally had my finger over the buy button for Stagecoach @32p, damn. Nearly tapped Cine as well @sub 20p. The list is endless. The problem sometimes is you feel trapped in a share. I think that's what happened to me with NEX. I sat there while it dipped endlessly & saw loads of great buy opps sail past me, & eventually caved in. Patience is the key virtue in this gig for sure!

Test i think we all have stories relating to lost gains due to impatience or something. My one was NEX. I had loads of shares in there. Originally bought @147, then tranches as it dropped. My lowest batch was @115. I stayed in their very patiently for 3 months. Got fed up & bailed out for peanuts of a gain. It's now sailed way over £3. It would have been a huge huge profit for me but instead it's another lesson in impatience. I've got other tales of woe, but overall done OK on almost all my shares. My only loss was IAG which i bought into at wrong time last year. Anyway these experiences have taught me when you can get in on a good solid share like this with good fundamentals, set a target price & stick with it. Mine here is 170 & i going nowhere till that at least is achieved!

I always bear this in mind when i think of selling. The SP is still at a 25 year low pre pandemic!

I really think a fallback to those levels is highly unlikely now unless some very bad news hits re covid. This share causes me a bit of a dilemma now as i believe looking at the US equivalents SPs, this is more about the strong pound than the BP share itself. I held when this went to 311 last time & kicked myself over that (Tacet-good call on that one). I believe this will be a stronger hold above 3 though. I'm also mindful that tax year coming to an end soon so have to play around a bit with these to minimise CGT!

Amazes me how the 2 big US super majors are around their 52 week highs but BP still way off it. I think good times are coming here!

I'm going to hold. Today has been long coming. Horrid last few weeks with this share. Hoping it's turned a corner now!

Hoping this will hold above £3 this time once it gets there. Should do now as higher OP & more positive sentiment than last time when it shot up a bit too quick. Here's hoping. Glad i didn't slice today now!
