Irrespective of when this Data Package arrives, it now needs to boost the SP by over 20% to get us back to where we were mid Oct . Delighted that patients may be richly rewarded by the science, but a little token of appreciation to LTH ‘s wouldn’t go amiss. I know highly selfish of me.
Must be some reason why the ECT hasn’t been raised before in relation to the EPL. The UK appears still to be an existing signatory and a quick search shows various references to its over arching reach in the protection of Fossil Fuel extraction. This particular comment , arising from a discussion within the Irish Assembly back in Feb ‘23, and warning of the need for Ireland to withdraw pronto, raised an eyebrow ;
“ The Energy Charter Treaty protects fossil fuel companies by allowing them to sue governments that introduce policies that impact their profits” !!
As is often the case, the devil will no doubt be lurking in the detail somewhere, which presumably others have already discovered.
Yes you rarely get the full picture. I smiled the other day when some climate activist proudly announced that Portugal had recently survived 6 days purely on solar, wind & hydro, promoting this as some form of victory against the net zero naysayers. Yes we do well with sunshine, the wind is intermittent and you can forget hydro. What he failed to mention is that as darkness falls in late autumn / winter many of us turn to our Pellet / Wood / BBQ Burners for warmth and/or cooking, which is cheaper than electricity. We get thro thousands*of tonnes of wood annually and given that a single cubic metre of wood stores about 1 tonne of CO2, it releases more than burning gas, oil or coal for the same amount of heat. That same activist may get a shock when in a few years time his emission readings are still rising !
*just taken delivery of 4cubic m. that should get me thro winter. Log man said he’s reserved about 100 c.m of wood ( Spanish oak ) for our tiny hamlet of about 20 properties this year. Not good but that’s a lot of CO2 !
Personally not expecting any more news next week, albeit would be nice. Many just taking advantage ( again ) of a Market that overshot to the downside knowing they have the patience to see this reach its potential. Those not used to investing in the O&G business are getting a lesson !
Now firing on all cylinders I see, these are strong results and will underpin the SP nicely. And Alex, let’s not be too hasty on passing back lower input costs, act like the fuel retailers !
You can produce all you can, but if the commodity price doesn’t support the effort there’s a problem. Given the likes of UBS / JP Morgan are now predicting long term prices for spodumene concentrate to settle at $US 1300 & $1000 a tonne respectively ( ie 75% down) even the big players with new mines now operating will struggle. The SP is reacting to reality.
I guess this is unsurprising given they announced suspension of all new drilling back in June, but all negative news from the ‘coal face’ adds pressure on Hunt. As to whether Enquest should consider mulling over Apache operations, I don’t know enough about them but when you’re limping along, being joined by someone else on a stretcher can add to your difficulties ! ( not saying they are invalid of course ! ).
Didn’t listen, but reported the King said “Legislation will be introduced to strengthen the UK’s energy security and reduce reliance on volatile international markets.” Given current fiscal measures only weaken our position and make that task pretty difficult, I guess one could assume some tweaking of the EPL is possible, not that the Markets currently see it that way.
Guessing the JV exclusivity period was for 6 months, to keep matters at pace. Think we would have heard now if negotiations had stalled. Legals take time but we must be edging closer. Irrespective happy to wait.
Numis are merely pointing out the pace of oncology research is such that there is always the risk of breakthrough announcements being made by others, that turns the chemotherapy market upside down. Clearly AI is now speeding up that research rapidly knowing the ‘holy grail’ rewards are huge. It’s of no surprise indeed good luck to anyone who finds that miracle, in the meantime we’re doing fine.
