RE: Lost for words, I don't get it27 Jan 2022 19:06
I didn't say that I didn't like it, I said the market didn't like it.
I don't have any opion, all my investing is based on momentum, I don't bother trying to understand the individual companies I invest in. There's nothing I could find that the market isn't aware of.
Bought these back in April at 35p so at the moment showing a nice profit, especially with the scrip dividends. It's been a bit of a roller coaster ride though.
I have made plenty of money on FXPO in the past but only when momemtum has turned. You won't get in at the bottom but can still make very good profits.
If I had the skills to spot an opportunity early then I would. However my momentum strategy has worked very well for me for many years so I'll stick with it. I'm a fair bit down with Experian and slightly down with Croda and MKS but gains on other shares such as Investec, Provident Financial and Tullow more than offset these losses. I never have more than 5% in any share so losses in any individual share desn't cause me too many issues. I am looking forward to OCDO turning because it has proved to be a great momentum investment in the past.
Valueplay, I agree that on occasions momentum can change. It is wise to sell when the share price falls belowthe 200 day MA, this helps to reduce the impact.
Shares that reach a new 52 week high tend to continue rising, shares that reach a new 52 week low tend to continue falling. I have no idea whether OCDO will be successful or not, I just follow the market and it works for me.
With momentum you have to accept that you won't buy at the bottom and sell at the top but it generally leads to decent profits. I bought at £16 after it had risen from £10 and sold at £20 after it had fallen from £29. I didn't buy at the bottom or the top but still made a very nice 25% profit in 1 year. I'm sure there will be similar opportunities in the future with OCDO.
All the best JJ, I'm also starting my next cancer treatment in a couple of weeks, asuuming I can get over a nasty dose of shingles I've had since October. As you say, hopefully MKS can cheer us up.
